We contracted Ali at A&M ACCOUNTING & TAX SERVICES INC. to do bookkeeping and accounting. The work was done incorrectly, his invoices were outside of the scope or the contract and his effort, and he subcontracted the work to Pakistan without our approval.

The work was done incorrectly. In my interview with him, he said he had experience with this systems we were using (******************* into *********) but his work did not demonstrate this. He charged time duplicating work that was already automatically pulled into the system.

The contract started in March and we capped the work at 20/h per month. I asked him to request approval if he needed more time. He did not do this. He charged us 53.5h--almost three times the cap-- to do this erroneous work between January and March-- even though the contract started in March.

The work was done in April but billed in March. He does not have a timekeeping system to support his hourly invoices. The work was a couple 30 min meetings and recording 44 payments. That would mean 1h15 minutes per transaction, which is unreasonable even if it was done properly.

Finally, I have reason to believe he was not doing this work himself in Canada as described. The ******* account we created for him signed on from Pakistan the day after signing on from Canada. Not to mention that the amount of time dedicated to this job in the first week of April, would leave very little time for a full time job he said he has, plus 3 other clients billed hourly and other clients on a fixed rate.

I was suspicious from the start as the price was to good to be true for a Canadian CPA and his name kept changing (Upworks: **********; Email: **********; Email signature: ********* (1 S); CPA: Syed Ali H. (2 S's) (Articles of incorporation: Syed Ali, H. (1 S); . I should have trusted my instinct.
