I hired this company to do a bathroom/laundry room renovation at our condo. It was a disaster. From the very beginning, we encountered problems. The condo concierge kept complaining about Amir's workers trying to circumvent the condo rules. Throughout the three weeks that it took to "finish" the project, there were numerous issues. Each time I pointed it out to Amir, the company owner, he was annoyed. I was labeled angry, ungrateful and unhappy. I was away when the demolition started. When I came back and checked the site, dust was all over. When I asked why there was no plastic to contain the dust within the immediate workspace, Amir sarcastically replied: "Where do you put plastic?" Instead of doing it right from the get go by instructing and managing his workers, he chose to blame me each time I raised an issue. On the last day of the reno, my family and I felt unsafe enough to instruct security not to let him or any of his men into the building. Below are a few of the major issues we encountered. 1. When the worker reinforced the wall where the floating vanity sink was installed, he put the metal stud too close to the emergency shut off valve. This rendered the latter immovable and useless in case of emergency. 2. There were gaps on the shower floor tiles where water seeped through underneath the floor. 3. Instead of using the unsanded grout to seal the shower wall tiles and floor, his worker used sanded grout. No sealer was applied to mitigate the obvious error. If left as is, within a couple of months the tiles would have buckled, cracked and ultimately compromised the entire structure. 4. Plaster was used to fill in the area where the tiles meet the ceiling inside the shower stall. This would have trapped the moisture and cause mold overtime. 5. There is a huge gap between the toilet bowl and the wall. When I pointed it out, Amir answered that all new models do that. He said that his worker was only following the existing drainage. 6. The washer and dryer were hooked back up only after I pointed it out. Even then, his worker couldn't get it to work. Most of these major defects would have escaped me if I didn't hire another contractor to finish the mess that TMDC Group left behind. One of my regrets was withholding only 5% of the total payment. I paid the next contractor more than the balance. Interestingly, Amir had the audacity to threaten to put a lien on the condo unit if I didn't pay him the rest of the money. When I sent him proof of all the defects and tried to get him to reimburse the difference on what I paid the other contractor, there was dead silence on his part. The cost of this reno was not cheap. It was not worth it at all! I completely regret going with TMDC Group.
