To begin I would like to take accountability for not recognizing the signs that the owner was not being honest about the car I bought from him (this was my first car). I went to see the car and he initially told me that he got the car from a local Oakville driver, he told me that the car was not in an accident, he also did not disclose this on the initial post he made. After viewing and driving the car I asked him if the car was safetied and he said yes. While driving the car I heard some squeaking when I was breaking, I asked him if he could replace the break pads before I pick up the car and he said he would (non of this was done). When I confirmed that I would purchase the car, he told me that the car had gotten in a minor accident and gave me a poorly printed report of the incident. He then went on to say that he would not lower the price because it was a minor accident. A few weeks after purchasing the car, I was out of town and drove in a pothole dropped a days later I heard rattling coming from the left front wheel. I stopped and checked to see what was wrong, but there was nothing out of place from what I could see. The next day while I was still in Kitchener driving on the highway I heard a bang and the car began swerving, I pulled over safely and saw that the tire had popped off. I reached out to the owner the next day after I had it towed it to my ex partners step fathers work place (a car dealership in Kitchener). The mechanics told me that's not supposed to happen even if I dropped in a pothole, the wheel is supposed to be twerked in. I then got it inspected by a mechanic in Toronto who told me that the car hardly passed safety and that it was a risk to drive with how low the break pads were. At the inspection he told me that there was an issue with the battery and I had to replace the shocks and the axel because it broke when the wheel came off, it all cost $2500. I initially asked him to cover the tow cost and he refused.
