I took a 2 stroke marine boat engine to him on 16th August 2021 and asked if he would give me an estimate on the repair cost.
i thought it was strange that he could not give me a figure to the nearest few hundred dollars
right there as the engine was completely stripped down ready to be worked on.
He said leave it with me for two weeks and i will give you and estimate then., Today it is 16 days and i rang him , he told me to leave it for another two weeks.
i said you told me that on 16th August, he said he was very busy and if i wanted i could take the engine somewhere else.
If he had told me a month in the fist place i would have done that. i will pick my engine up tomorrow.
I am English and live there for 50 years and 20 years in Canada , i like Canada but as regards to customer protection Canada is not even close.
Twenty years ago England brought out a thing called the Office of Fair Trading and what that was the government wanted to get rid of the back street cowboy's
A business can apply and if you are a good stable company after they check you and your premises to be good they give you a license to display at you premises and in your adds and business cards. your pay a fee each year for this license.
if you are the business and a customer makes a complaint about you the OFT will investigate, if you get a lot of complaints you will loose your license.
you as a business want to keep your license because people in England when searching for a business will skip the ones that do not have and Office of fair Trading License..
This system works well for the consumer and the business. The consumers can see who the bad and good company's are, and the license keeps the business in check.
THIS IS WHAT IS NEEDED IN CANADA.
