      We hired Steamatic in October 2023 for water restoration services and spoke directly with the President throughout the process. We described the faucet leak to him on our first call and we reached the following agreement over the phone: -That emergency services would be deployed the same day;-That the emergency services would include labor associated with cleaning the affected areas caused by the water leak and equipment for drying (fans, mats) the surfaces;-That the cost of the emergency services would be a maximum of $1000 (before taxes);-That advance payment was required;-That no repair work could be undertaken by Steamatic due to a labor shortage;-That a report detailing the repair work needed would be provided; and -When asked by the president and his receptionist if we were proceeding with an insurance claim, we mentioned that we would not be opening a claim with our insurance.We paid $1,130.90 on that same call and he then sent a team of technicians on site. The work was completed as agreed upon and no additional work was taken on. On October 24th, we received an invoice by email for over 3000$ for the services. At no point in time were we advised that additional fees were required, nor did we receive a new estimate for the emergency services.When we tried disputing the invoice with the president (over the phone and by email), he wrote in a long email that we were liars and the worst customers, that we had misunderstood the first call and he stated that it he had made clear that the 1000$ was only a deposit, yet, he had no proof to support this. He also threatened to put a lien on the home and yelled at us. One day after he emailed this invoice, we were getting multiple calls (one per day) from his employees asking us to pay right away, even after we stated that we would not pay for the additional charges that we were not consulted on. We have never been treated with such disrespect as consumers and the lack of transparency is unacceptable.
