      THE URBAN CONCEPT LTD. Agreed to provide us a fence back in March 2021..siting supply issues due to covid we have been docked around for the last year. Spent over 6k to not get anything but a safety hazard installed in our yard.

      Since the beginning of July, I was communicating with Norm K**** at The Urban Concept Ltd. via email. Norm had provided me with a quote for a fence and on July 29th 2021, I paid him $1877.58. On July 29th 2021, I was told that the material was ordered and that the fence would be installed at some point in the near future. On July 30th 2021, I received an email from Norm indicating that the material was delayed, but would be delivered and the installs would begin on or around September 4th 2021. I was also told that his company would be working throughout that time to ensure that the posts would be installed prior to that date to ensure that everything would be set in time. On October 6th 2021, nothing had been completed and I had sent an email to Norm asking for an update. I received a reply almost immediately indicating that the material was in the process of clearing customs and that he was hoping to start installing the fence the following week. On October 10th 2021, I received an email from Norm indicating that installations would take place the following week and that he would not be taking phone calls, only emails, as he was so busy. On October 30th, I was advised by my neighbours that they had received an email from The Urban Concept Ltd. indicating that they were dissatisfied with the fencing material and that the fence would be delayed. I did not receive this email and when I emailed Norm about it he forwarded me the email and requested that all further inquires go through ***************************. On November 19th 2021, I was advised that The Urban Concept Ltd. had filed a lawsuit with the material supplier and have not had any contact with anyone from the company since then. I have attempted to contact them via all phone numbers associated to their business and all numbers are no longer in service. All of their social media and webpages have been taken down. I went by their address which is no longer valid. ** ******* ** **** **** ** * ******

      On February 24, 2021 a contract was signed with Urban Concepts Ltd to install a Green Teak 7ft fence (step- method), in the amount of $3699.41, for which a deposit of $369.94 was paid. Following this agreement, the company cited a series of supply chain issues preventing the product from being delivered and installed. The company then stated that the product was no longer available and convinced us to sign an agreement for a similar style (Caramel Ash at 6ft) and appearance (step-method) on April 27, 2021, promising that it would be a close match and would have the same installation pattern as an existing fence. Further, the company promised to send us physical samples, but never did. The cost for this new fence was $3226.07, for which a deposit of $1243.10 was made on April 27, 2021. The first promised date of installation was June 2021. To date, no fence has been installed, due to what the company cited as supply issues. I called the supplier (***) myself, and they did not confirm the supply issues cited by Urban Concept Ltd. Several months after the signing of the 2nd contract, the company informed me that the fence would not be installed based on a step-method pattern, stating it would be sloped instead. This should have been a violation of our contract, but the company ignored cancellation requests. In addition, the company installed a chain link fence on the other side of my house (with no documentation or contract) and damaged my foundation by cutting through and removing the membrane that protects the foundation from water leakage. The foundation requires repair. After complaining, the company left the gate unfinished and ignored our requests to correct the issue. The company stated in October 2021 that all fencing material arrived but was unfit for install. We no longer want to work with this company as their competency and integrity are suspect. I want all monies returned.

      My neighbours and I entered into an agreement to have Urban Concept (UC) complete a fence and gate installation by the end of summer 2021. The fence is to be shared with our neighbours and we all agreed to a specific style of fence. One of our conditions for this fence is that it would match a pre-existing fence on the other side of our house. The project was to commence in June 2021. In April 2021, UC advised that they could not obtain the material in the contract and but were confident that they could acquire a similar product, the difference being only in height and slight colour deviation. We agreed to this change order based on the facts we were given. As the summer months progressed we consistently reached out to UC for updates on when the project would start. We were given potential commencement dates that came and went without any goods or services rendered. During this period of time we also discovered that the materials would also differ in installation style. We advised that we had only agreed to the change in height and colour. Without being given complete information on the change order, we were misled into agreeing to a completely different fence style. While attempting to resolve this discrepancy, we received communication from UC in October 2021 advising that they could not install the fence at all, due to the quality of material they received from their supplier. Since they cannot provide the goods and services agreed upon in the contract, we asked for a refund of our deposit. It does not appear they are willing to return our deposit. The complaint is two-fold. Firstly, we were misled into a contract that did not provide a fence according to the specifications/criteria we had initially requested and agreed upon. Secondly, communication received from UC indicates that they cannot commence the project at all. It is unreasonable for them to retain our deposit.
