    * I booked an appointment online at Elysian Wellness Centre to have physiotherapy for my L leg/foot for Friday, December 31, 2021 @ 1:45pm. I tested positive for COVID, via PCR test, on Sunday, December 19 (first onset of symptoms was Friday, December 17). The end of my ten day isolation period was Monday, December 27. My left leg/foot pain got progressively worse to the point I was using crutches to get around the house. The day of my physiotherapy appointment, December 31, I woke up with my leg and foot swollen and extremely painful. I was afraid I may have a clot in my leg (I am predisposed for clots). I called the clinic at and in around 10:30 - 10:45am to cancel my appointment and explained my reasoning. Despite that, I was charged automatically $125 which is the amount of the whole appointment. As soon as I got off the phone, I was charged automatically (clinic asks to have a credit card on file) and was sent the invoice via email. I was driven to the Ottawa General - Emergency department at 12:30pm December 31, 2021 and wasn't released from the hospital until January 1, 2022 @ 1:45am. * I called the clinic Thursday, January 6, 2022 giving them an update and asking for a refund. I was told to email the owner, Moe explaining my situation and he will get in touch with me within 1 - 3 business days. I never heard back so I called the clinic Friday, January 14, 2022 and I was told the email was just a general email and there is a chance Moe never saw it but the receptionist assured me he would forward it now to the appropriate party. Thursday, January 20 I called again and finally asked to speak with the clinic owner. I was instead relayed to Sarah, clinic manager, and she refused to give me a refund despite my circumstance. She hung up on me once and the receptionist, Sam, hung up on me twice mid sentence. I offered many times to show them proof of my hospital stay in person and they never accepted. * ****** ******* **** ** ** ******

If I could give 0 stars I would. This clinic specifically caters to victims of MVA and have the STRICTEST possible cancellation policies. I have been a patient of 4 separate clinics since my accident, all of whom have had the "same" or similar policy and all of whom have waived numerous cancellation fees with empathy and consideration. I understand that this policy exists to protects the practitioners to a certain extent, but the inability to be flexible at time of cancelation (including for illness, emergency or injury) is honestly distressing to someone in recovery (especially when I was giving them an average of $900 a month at one point). To be told that you need to pay a cancelation fee on Friday for a Monday appointment because the weekend "Doesn't count" towards the 24-hour cancellation fee requirements is insulting. 3 days is 3 days. They also don't have a voicemail and often miss calls. You literally have to reach out to the owner and explain your situation for them to CONSIDER waiving the fees. This is because the Owner does not trust his receptionists to waive any fees and you are treated like an a****** for trying to take care of yourself. To cater specifically towards physically & mentally vulnerable people and then punish them financially for the side effects and symptoms of their injuries should be illegal. It's definitely immoral. To force people to come in sick and injured or during an emergency for "care" is wrong. Though they have great staff, they can't keep anyone for the life of them. They also try to keep patients at their clinic when a practitioner leaves by not telling them where the practitioner went.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts about your experiences with our clinic. We appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to address your concerns.Firstly, we want to express our gratitude for your continued attendance at our clinic and the trust you've placed in our therapists. We are committed to providing exceptional service to all our clients, and it is disheartening to learn that you feel our recent decision not to waive yet another cancellation fee for you, has led to a negative perception of our clinic. We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and we have, in the past, exercised the courtesy of waiving cancellation fees as a goodwill gesture to you. However, we would like to bring to your attention that our cancellation policy is in place to ensure the fair compensation of our therapists for their time. This policy, stipulating a 1-business day (not 24 hours), notice requirement for cancellations, is clearly outlined in every confirmation email and digitally signed on your intake form. In addition, many clinics including dentists, have a 2 business day cancellation policy, therefore this is very norm for the health industry. We acknowledge that we have extended courtesy waives in the past, and we appreciate your understanding during those instances. However, it's crucial to emphasize that consistent adherence to our policies is essential to maintaining the sustainability of our clinic and ensuring fair compensation for our therapists. We understand that unexpected situations can be frustrating, and we regret any inconvenience caused. However, it is important for our clients to recognize the impact of late cancellations on the livelihood of our therapists, as they depend on these appointments for their income. While we value your continued patronage, we believe it *** be in the best interest of both parties if you explore alternative clinics that *** better align with your expectations and policies, considering that your review reflects the constant aggressive behaviour we experience when you do not get your way, and we can no longer unfortunately continue to engage in this behaviour. We want to ensure that your therapeutic experience is positive and in ******* with the guidelines that govern our operations. In response to your "can't keep anyone for the the life of them", all our staff have been with us for 5+ years, except the new therapists who began with us recently due to our expansion. Your current physiotherapist is actually retiring completely and moving out of the country, not leaving for another clinic.Once again, we appreciate your feedback and your time with us. If you have any further concerns or if there's anything we can do to assist you in your transition to another clinic, please feel free to reach out.Wishing you the best on your wellness journey.
