In June of this year, our NTI boiler started acting up for the first time since it had been installed. The display on the tank would say "Purging Purging Purging" several times a day. We called to have it serviced, but it appears that the company who installed the unit is no longer in business. On Wednesday, July 20, we arranged for a technician to fix this issue. He adjusted the pressure of the tank and then went on to tell us our system is not to code. He red-tagged our unit, leaving us with 90 days to get it to code. Shortly afterwards, we received the invoice. The technician charged us two hours of labour plus travel time. This fee included both the requested problem resolution AND the time he took upon himself to look for any other issues that he felt existed. We did not ask him to do the latter. He did not tell us that he was going to perform this task and more importantly, that we would be charged for it. For your reference, - we have contacted the manufacturer, and they said this symptom is often caused by low pressure. So, the repair should have been relatively straightforward. - we are also contacted the TSSA and are waiting for a inspector to confirm which, if any, of these issues actually exist We have sent two emails asking for a breakdown of the labour costs and have received no response to date. We are more than willing to pay for what we asked, but not for the rest of his time, which resulted in an estimate of approx. $5600 to 'resolve the issues'. This estimate is more than what it cost to purchase and install this unit one and a half years ago.

If I could leave a negative, I would. We paid over $1270 to this rude owner. Buyer beware, they quote you on something and then tell you something that makes no sense at all. He told us something about our battery not having enough power to run our furnace in our RV. The battery has nothing to do with it working. Then we were told that they had it working at their business but when they came to install it would not work. The technician told us it could have broke in their van when coming to install. For all of their talk, they were paid over $1270 and I still don't have a working furnace. I read their reviews and was impressed, that is why I got them. Now I know that he is not reliable at all. I have talked to another technician and told him what I was told and he could not believe what untruth I was told.

After trying to troubleshoot the furnace on-site, it just wasnt possible due to access (tight spot ** furnace) and it was decided the best thing to do was to bring it back to our shop to work on it there. We got it working and we booked a service call to install her furnace. When it was back in place, it stopped working. It was now obvious that the mainboard was faulty as there were no other issues with the furnace as it was working in our shop. Open circuits can be affected by temperature. There may be a fault inside an IC package or other component that will come and go with temperature changes. It could be an intermittent connection of some kind, something like a bad solder joint or a hairline crack in the board or a lifted pad on a single-side PCB. Of course, then there are other possibilities. The general rule is that things that suddenly start to work will suddenly stop again at some later (and often inconvenient) date. We are not allowed to service and/or repair mainboards, so we gave her a price on a new mainboard as well as a price on a new ** furnace, she did not accept either. So unfortunately, she does not have a working furnace. There is no changed story, it was working went we left to put it back into the ** and when it was in place, it stopped working. The only solution was to either change the mainboard or install a new furnace and she did not want either. There is a lot of could-haves, should-haves, and would-haves with this service call. In the end, we did provide service that she approved. She was aware of the travel fees and service rates. If she wanted a new furnace, we would have gladly installed it for her. She made the decision to troubleshoot an older ** furnace which turned out to be a lemon.
