              I hired Atlantic Van Lines to move all of my worldly possessions from Lindsay, Ontario to Edmonton, Alberta. This consisted of 48 boxes/plastic totes, and 1 suitcase. Somehow in the moving process, one of my plastic blue totes was "lost" by the movers. In this tote was ALL of my jewelry, which monetarily was worth about $5,000.00, but sentimentally was priceless. In the same tote was my expired passport, my birth and marriage certificates, my scuba diving mask and underwater camera, along with many sentimental items like greeting cards, programs from events attended, and artwork made by my grandchildren. After contacting the business manager immediately and on a weekly basis for 6 months, the plastic tote was never recovered.               Truly awful experience so far. We're moving some valuable (to us) items across Canada. We gave them a list of items and specific instructions to leave 1 of the 2 dressers in the storage locker. They showed up late once and we needed to reschedule the pick up. Then, they showed up and the movers hadn't been given instructions beyond "clear the unit". When the storage employee told them they weren't to clear it out they did anyways. They claim they called me but I have no records. They did however, call my parents who they expressly were told were unavailable and to call me. When I contacted them, they refused to return our dresser unless we paid them $350. ***** about their instructions and events at the storage facility. I have all the proof of instructions in email. Now they are holding our item, refusing to return or give to us without payment when we had specifically asked them to not to take. Truly awful. ****** ****** *** ******* ***** *** **** *** ***** ********* *** Now we need to try and recover our things. I am worried for the final bill and condition of our items.
