On November 1,2021 I took my lady's Toyota ****** plate ******** to replace the alternator and engine belt. The service advisor ***** **** told me that the battery should be replaced because she noticed a slight bulge on the outer casing, I told her that the battery is fine and it is only a few months old, so I paid the bill and left. On November 3, 2021 around 9:15 a.m. while standing with the engine running the car suddenly stopped. The lights on the consul went off, the car refuse to start, however, the horn blew, the door signal sounded, with the sign on the indicated the door is open and the headlight worked. I realized that a fuse was blown so I opened the hood and the fuse box to check, However without proper instruments I was able to identify the blown fuse. I immediately called miss ***** **** approximately 6 times and left 2 messages. A stranger also try to reach her on my behalf without success, she called me back approximately 11:55 a,m, when I explained to her the about the car and told her it appears to be a fuse, at which she said that it is the battery and take the car to ************* where I purchased the battery. I insist that it is not the battery that it is a fuse. I told her that I will bring back the car to Toyota. ******** ****** called me a tow truck which came and brought the car to Toyota. I met with ***** she told that it would cost an hour and I agreed. After a few minutes she spoke with the electric tech who said that it is a fuse that is blown. She told me that it would cost 4 hours. I told her that it is exorbitant and unreasonable. She said in order for then to continue I have to sign off on the 4 hours, The car was left there overnight since there were out of that fuse. I paid the bill which came to $594.09 which included a fuse for $5,17. It is impossible that it would take more than 15 minute to replace that fuse because the fuse box is at the front of the hood and the battery is fine. ******************************

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/11/11) */ Customer had requested alternator replacement on November 1. Supplied their own part. No diagnostic / inspection from the dealer. Only part we upsold was a drive belt, which was cracked badly. Customer agreed to have belt replaced. We installed alternator and drive belt, customer picked up vehicle. Vehicle was towed into the dealer on November 3. Explain to customer it would cost $142.95 for diagnostic. They agreed. Upon inspection, technician found 100 amp main fuse and 15 amp AM2 fuse are blown. In order to replace the 100 amp fuse, the fuse box in the engine compartment has to be dismantled. The main fuse is bolted down internally inside the fuse box. Not a regular fuse you just pull out and replace. Battery and intake box had to be removed to gain access to fuse box for further removal. Customer was inside the shop with advisor and technician. We answered all the questions and at the end, they approved the work. Technician suspect at some point the vehicle was reverse boosted. Customer said it might be. Customer left the car with us overnight to wait for part. We have quoted $428.85 for the repair plus the original $142.95 diagnostic fee. We also applied a 10% discount. Additional note stated in the invoice: 1. RADIO AND HVAC AIR CIRCULATION BUTTON INOP 2. RELATED FUSES OK 3. RADIO DAMAGED FROM REVERSE BOOSTING 4. AIR CIRC BUTTON - FUSES GOOD, WIRING OR SWITCH ISSUE - DIAG REQUIRE
