During an Insurance claim my vehicle was sent by Intact to Master Mechanic for a vehicle safety mechanical inspection to assess if the vehicle was safe to drive by performing a full front to back inspection of the safety and mechanical components using methods that all licensed auto shops performing *** safety would follow.
The vehicle inspection conducted by Master Mechanic Simcoe was completed with such poor quality. The whole inspection was incomplete, containing only 5 point comments. There were no checks, tolerances noted nor pass or fail comments. I verified how bad the inspection was with a confirmation email from ***
"if the vehicle has the problems stated by master Mechanic then the vehicle should not be driven. The documented problems would not pass a safety inspection and would deem a vehicle to not be fit for road use. The criteria for a vehicle safety can be found in the Passenger Light Duty Vehicle Inspection Standard "
The mechanic that performed this inspection should be licensed with College of trades/skilled trades Ontario and hold a certification ticket. Regulator inspectors should be watching for such unsafe sloppy work.
Master Mechanic is not working in the customer's best interest at all times. Their lack of effort and capability to uphold trade standards, or follow *** procedure is shocking. It's very alarming how many of my peers and community members' vehicles they worked on with this total lack of professionalism to follow through with any concern for standards, especially considering this is a franchised business.
Performing proper safety and front to back mechanical inspection should be paramount and treated sacred. I compensate licensed auto mechanics for their knowledge to keep me safe. It's their most important duty. Master Mechanic, failed me and this leaves me very concerned about their level of workmanship or trust to perform simple repairs with integrity.

Thank you for your concern and giving me the opportunity to respond. In October 2021 we were asked to do a mechanical inspection of the underside of your Toyota Tundra from a local collision repair shop due to it being stolen. Your insurance company did not ask us to perform a Ministry Safety Inspection and provide a corresponding report, they asked us to inspect for damage to the underside of the vehicle (Brakes and suspension components). We provided them with a list of service items we found at the time that need addressing. If they had asked us to do a MTO inspection it would have been done and a report would have been given. Myself and the team here at Master Mechanic take great pride in providing the community with the highest quality work possible.
