I received a letter on May 18, stating I had 30 days to agree and sign a mortgage renewal Agreement for 48,000 with Fritz Financial dated for April 24. The letter stated a list of different fees of a total of 14,352.00 to be paid within the 30 days as well. If I fail to pay this 14,352 within 30 day’s and agree to the terms of the agreement, my principal amount will increase to 54,300.00 with an interest rate of 29.9 %. I was not given 30 days. The letter was signed by Fritz Financial on Monday, April 24, did not get posted until May 12. 30 - 18 = 12 days to get this money together (if I was aware). The letter was shipped by ground, regular mail, transit time 7 - 10 days from Smith Falls, ON to Fortune, NL. 12 - 7 = 2 days left of the 30. There are options to get this letter to NL a lot faster; priority post, express post or registered mail. I received the letter on Thursday, May 18. I was given 2 days not 30; Friday, May 19 and Tuesday, May 23 to get over $14,000!!! Ridiculous!!! The banks are closed on Saturday and Sunday. Also closed on Monday, May 22 because of the holiday, Victoria Day weekend. I am given 2 days, Friday and Tuesday to get $14,352.00 by Wednesday, May 23. I am very sure this was done intentionally. This is poor business practice. If a business say 30 day’s, then it should be 30 days from the time the client actually receiving notification. The letter could have been sent registered mail on April 25. It would have got to NL over night. I left a message with the company Thursday, May 18. They replied with an email stating they are off today Friday, May 19 and will call on Tuesday, May 23. Which leaves me with 0 day’s to come up with anything. This is very, very poor business practice! THEY want my home!! The business made this agreement time sensitive, should show some consideration and not to force someone to loose there home. Fritz Financial should give me to the actual Maturity date, June 20th. Thank you ****** and ****** *****
