We hired ******* (Valley Interlock Paving) to make some safety changes to my inlaws new-to-them bungalow. My inlaws both have mobility issues and the entrance and exit were not safe for them to use. ******* was to build wide interlock steps in the front and back of the house to allow space for the door to open with the use of a walker. He was also contracted to replace an old and rotten fence along the side of the home. ******* quoted around $15000 and 1-2 weeks to complete these jobs. We paid $6400 as a deposit. He began the job mid-May. He sporatically showed up to the jobsite and had a wide variety of excuses why he couldn't complete the job. He did the math wrong on the front step and left an 11" drop and build a very unsafe ramp to "fix the issue". This ramp forced my mother in law to shift her weight over her walked in order to step down. We paid seperately for a 3rd step to be added to the front to help reduce the drop. After the 3rd step, there is still a 9" drop. Also adding, the stones on the top most step were not glued in and wobble. My father in law had an almost fall while trying to water plants when he lost his balance. ******* started the excavation of the back step and started dismantling the fence. He left a massive hole full of gravel and a fence panel that fell down. Around the 8 week mark, he decided to fire him and terminate the contract. The front step is still unfinished and the back step is a hole full of gravel. The fence is snow fencing that we stapled in. He has threatened to come reposses his stone and dismantle the front steps. He has yelled at us and has sat twice in front of the house and stared at my inlaws from his truck. We have involved the police and our lawyer. He has refused to deal with either, using "choice words" with both. We now need to find a 2nd contractor to fix what he's done and refinish the project as there is currently only 1 quasi-usable door. He has threatened us with a lien as retaliation. I can email pics
