I brought my vehicle to Autovation to have a Safety inspection done. One of the items that they identified was tires. The shop manager stated that the tires were stale dated and that the government required them to be newer than 7 years old. I told them that there was no such requirement (section 9) under the amended 2015 Act, He said that they have the list of requirements in the back and implied that I was wrong. I paid the bill and returned home. I phoned The Ministry and confirmed with 2 individuals (general and technical section) that there is no such date requirement. One of the other items that they identified was a rusted brake caliper that they identified to be replaced. The previous owner ran the car with no caliper issues, so I had my doubts. Again checking the regulations it states "Surface rust and corrosion is normal..........and is not cause for rejection." Now, I believe that they are trying to up-sell me by lying about the legal requirements. The Ministry referred me to the College of Trades and The College said that "Effective October 1, 2021, the College can no longer legally receive or investigate allegations of professional misconduct made against its members". That has led to to the BBB and other avenues to get the word out on these garages that falsely claim that they are following the legislation, but in reality lining their own pockets.

Mr W***** left out some details of his visit. We preformed a safety inspection after we diagnosed his inoperative license plate lights. We concluded that a rear SAM Module was required. Cost of which was an expensive repair, ******** parts, wiring and programming, upwards of $2000.00. Because we are caring , intelligent technicians, we offered that this issue be repaired for ~150.00 (Parts and custom wiring work). No caliper was called on this estimate of repair, but a front right brake Rotor being pitted and rusted. SECTION 3.9 "No Broken, Pitted or cracks on the surface." All this said, we did not even quote him for the needed repairs. Don't understand how we are lining our pockets? We don't sell work. We service our customers and help them with their specific repair needs. Hence our raving ****** reviews.....
