Complaint: 2015 Nissan Altima warranty refusal by Northern Nissan/Nissan Canada for rear lower control arm. Note: Nissan Canada has extended replacement warranty for the lower control as it is prone to corrosion and failure. There is class action lawsuit in the USA regarding this (****** *** ***) Foreground: Summer 2021. The right rear low control arm failed on my 2015 Nissan Altima. It was repaired by a local (Non Nissan garage). I submitted a reimbursement warranty through Northern Nissan as this component had its warranty extended. Sept 2024 I received warranty reimbursement from Northern Nissan. Sept. 20/2023 the opposite rear control arm (left) failed approximate 350 meters from my local garage. I was able to limp it there. The garage ordered the component and repaired my vehicle. I then completed the same process of requesting reimbursment warrant as before, the component is still under extended coverage. Documents were sumbitted to ******* **** at Northern Nissan for processing. Time passed. I sent two follow up emails (Dec 11/23 & Jan. 7/24 looking for an update. No Reply. Jan 24/24I received an email from ******* stating my request was declined. It was stated in his reply, "I was aware of the warranty extension from the reimbursement in 2021, I would have needed to bring the car into the dealership for repair." This is untrue. Had I been "aware" obviously I would have towed the car to the dealship for repair. I was not sent any form of written communication stipulating this requirement from either Northern Nissan or Nissan Canada. I am looking for reimbursement as they had previously honored on the exact same part previously.

This concern is not with Northern Nissan, it is with Nissan Canada.  The customer was aware that the vehicle needed warranty work to be completed at a Nissan dealer for the warranty to be honoured after the first reimbursement.  However, the customer chose to use  his personal garage for a second time.  Nissan Canada has reviewed the case and will make an exception to their policy and will reimburse the customer.  Once Northern Nissan has been forwarded the funds from Nissan Canada, they will send a cheque to the customer.  The claim has been submitted for processing at this time.

SO#****** i brought my 2009 nissan sentra on 06/08/2022 to northern nissan for repair, the car had a parasitic draw and battery would die in about 2 days.they had the car till 06/15/2022. the mechanic **** tried different resources and tests to find the problem.when bill of $507.50 was paid on 06/15/2022 Northern Nissan was unable to fix the car. I am not disputing the entire bill! They did spend time on my car/$139.00anhour. I am disputing the the 100amp fuse link they installed on battery.at the price of $90.50 for the part./plus labour at $139.00 an hour.the mechanic /**** noted on work order noted corrosion on 100a fusible link at battery.replace fusible link***** goes on to say, fusible linked changed, still has 0.08a draw. i feel like i should not have to pay for this expensive fusible link/$90.50 plus labour. they replaced the fusible link which didn't solve the problem. my argument to service advisor ****, that the new part wasn't the problem so they should of put back the original piece . **** /service advisor went on to tell me the part still had to be changed because of corrosion, i replied that the old part was still good to use till i purchase a new fusible link at a much cheaper price.and free labour since i have good knowledge in the auto repair .**** the service advisor went on to tell me as quote"yes we could of put back the original part. When as why he didn't the service advisor **** couldn't answer my question!!

Mr. ******* was having issues with the battery keeping a charge. He dropped it off at Northern Nissan to have this issue diagnosed for a possible repair. When trying to diagnose any type of problem or problems with anything electrical we start with charging the battery and testing it to see if the battery is fully functional. With a fully charged battery we now performed the parasitic draw test. This work was all approved by Mr. ******* and more time was approved to continue with trying to identify where the draw was coming from. The approved work was in one hour blocks up to 3 hours. When advising Mr. ******* of the corrosion on the 100 Amp fusible link we recommended replacement in order to move forward. Mr. ******* approved Northern Nissan to order the fusible link and advised us that he would install himself. He later spoke to ****** our Parts advisor and authorized Northern Nissan to install. The replacement of the fusible link did not eliminate draw and Northern Nissan continued to test fuses and continue draw test. When pulling the rad fan and ignition fuses the draw was isolated. Our recommendation  to repair the vehicle was to replace ignition switch. This work was declined. Our policy on Special order parts is non returnable once installed. In this case if Mr. ******* would like to remove the new fusible link and re install his old part, Northern Nissan would credit him the cost of the part plus the applicable taxes. $90.50 +11.77(HST) $102.27 Refund
