New tires for my 2010 VW Golf purchased August 28 2022.I was told, by counter person, not to bother with coming back in for retorque on lug nuts as they didnt do that.Car was driven maybe 100km prior to being parked in garage October 31 2022 until April 23 2023 when we returned from ********** one drove vehicle during that time.While on a trip to the doctors in ******* the vehicle was acting eradically so I turned around to return home with my wife as a passenger.Within half a mile the left front rim with tire broke off ,crossed the road and stopped in a deep ditch. No other vehicle was impacted by my rim but if my wife had been driving our car alone I dont know whether she she would have been able to keep the car on the road as I did.A tow truck was called to transport the car back to Canadian Tire in ******* for repair .A new hub and lugs as well as a new tire had to be installed at an out of pocket cost of almost $800 .The body repair estimate of $2000 and new used rim priced at $180 brings the total damage cost to very close to $3000.After several back and forths with Canadian Tire Tilbury store manager he told me that that his company would not pay for my damages that were caused by faulty installation and to go through insurance.He once offered $750 toward my costs prior to telling me to go through insurance.Hub and new tire costs were temporarily posted to CT credit card which now wants interest payments as well as repayment $. I want complete cost $3000 as well as clearing any credit smears resulting from this incident.
