I hired "The Odd Job" to do a landscape job for us involving: > Burry pipe from down spout to drain at end of backyard. > A walkway (stepping stones). > River rock around walkway and backyard pool. > River rock on front of house and between houses. I e-transferred ****** ****** $1000 of the quoted $3100 on July 13 to start the work. On the 21st ****** insisted that he has no money to buy plastic edges and asked me for $500. I transferred him another $200. To date, July 22, the contractor has not been here working except a few hours. Every morning there is a new story for not showing up to the job site. He promised to bring helpers to finish the job but he said they keep cancelling on him. ****** failed to deliver on each of his many promises to make things up or get part of the job done. The total time he and his one helper spent working here is less than a day of work. He brought us enough stress that today, coming 3 hours late and not prepared to lay the walkway stones as he promised, I decided to ask him to take his shovels and spades and leave. I am totally disappointment with ******'s treatment to us and his dishonesty. The little work that was done, > Buried pipe from down spout > Laid fabric over a 4x24 feet distance has to be redone as it is not to our satisfaction at all. The pipe is not draining water properly, it has visible high spots. And the Fabric is the cheap type that will disintegrate quickly. I therefore ask this business (******) to refund me $1,000. He can keep $200 as they brought here a roll of fabric and 8 plastic edges. the $200 should pay for the material they brought, their gas and more. unfortunately the client decided to cancel the contract client kept on adding additional things as we agreed on for me to remove some dirt from the front of the house but instead he added 2 loads of dirt removed on other side of the house we’re we understood we were working from grade up but instead removing 2 yards of dirt witch client was not understanding of he wasn’t are only client at the time also for first day me and 2 other workers were there working he also we comfirmed with client that there was proper drainage in the 40 feet of pipe we installed also removing of dirt also moving of 60 patio stones also client took 150$ of edging and a 450$ roll of liner also client canceled contract before the agreed finished date we were fulfilling are end of the contract I apologize that on a day that it was raining I didn’t drop what I was doing to come back cause we had 1 1/2 hours of sun and sorry but we were willing and capable of doing the job total money spent on job including gas wages and work that has been done and material that was token by client we are out 1500$ so unfortunately no refund is given

******* ****** Exactly what the business said, why did you, the business, think they are working from grade when that was not possible as patio stones will interfere with the fence gate. The Odd Job examined the work site twice but failed to understand what it entails. I, the customer, asked if I could add a little thing worth exactly 6 patio stones. The business asked for an extra $150. I did not bargain and agreed to the extra. The Odd Job was not competent and failed to deliver on each promise they made when the weather was not a factor. I am very sorry to have hired them and will not be satisfied unless I receive a refund. I don't think they are being honest about the cost of fabric and edgers, I ask them to attach the receipts to prove what they are claiming they spent.Business response

yes stones are supposed to be set in the ground but you should of told the fence guy that the grade was supposed going to be higher for the bottom of the fence it’s not my problem when you get the fence installed after job was priced and already planned and if don’t believe use on the price for the edging and fabric roll I don’t know what to tell you that’s just to back go look up how much for 1000 foot roll I didn’t buy it just for your job also go to a supplier find how much snap edging is you canceled contract before finishing date not my fault have a nice day

I tell you, the roll is practically not used and the snap edging is still untouched, you can take them back and use them in your other jobs and refund me the money. Since you didn't buy the roll for my job only anyway. The new contractor is refusing to use the type of roll you bought anyway.
You only needed to clear the gate, the new contractor is now having to refill the space you dug unnecessarily and compromised the Concrete pad.
The least I expect from you, and I am being very generous, Take your roll and edges and refund me $800. You were here for less than a day in total and you get to keep $400. I think I am being very fair.
