Date of transaction: April 13, 2024 Is***: Store selling expired/stale food and refusing to is*** refund.I bought a few packs of products that were on sale, there was no expiration date on the packaging. The purple yam candy which was supposed to be purple was moldy green in color and didnt look safe to eat. The other variety appeared normal in color but the taste was awful stale. The store denied refund saying the products were already open and that I can just go to court and *** them. The manager was not accommodating and wont even look to the product that im showing, I also asked him to try it himself so he would know but he was just plain rude.I also had a prior is*** with them putting wrong price label then when I raised it, they were not even apologetic.Business response

I appologize for the delayed reply..
I wish to clarify this concern about the candy colour not being exactly as shown on the box; the colour of the product is normal and is not actually exactly as shown on the box . We do sell lots of this product with no complaints and our supplier has confirmed that this product is good and is not expired the taste of this product is proper! The colour is obviously not exactly as shown on the box. That is a normal situation. This is an imported product from the Phillippines, not ******
we are not responsible for everyone personal tastes whether they like the product or not. We have a known store policy that products opened cannot be returned. . Our suppliers are very reputable and have assured us of this fir many years.

I am rejecting this response because: As he mentioned the product was imported from *********** and not *****, I am more familiar with the color and taste as I am from *********** and he is from *****. I asked him to try the candy when I spoke to him in person but he refused. I wanted him to try how rancid it tasted so he can believe what I was trying to say.I have never since came back to his store and have been patronizing more ethical stores like Oriental Supermarket, Ugarit Supermarket among others.
He can deny all complaints but just look at the ****** reviews of people complaining about expired or stale products and they refuse to refund or exchange. Of course it is food, we need to open the product before we will find out its not good.
I have never experienced this in other ethnic stores and with Canadian stores, exchanges or returns are hassle-free. We, consumers value peace of mind and good after-sales service. It is not just about the price but for Multifood, not only they are expensive, I find their business unethical.
I would not want to waste my time but its just up to the people to keep their business with you or not. Thanks for this experience, my eyes were opened that there are a lot of new ethnic grocery stores here in ******* who value their customers.

I went in there with a stroller and my toddler and bought a small bottle of sriracha sauce and a sucker from the cash for him. I paid and the cashier proceeds to go under my stroller into my personal belongings without my permission. She proceeds to continue looking after I told her to stop, telling me that I'm stealing which I was not and gave her no reason to think I was. I felt like I was discriminated against for no reason other than being white in an predominantly Asian market. I used to enjoy shopping there but after today I feel like I cannot go shopping in there without being harassed by the staff for being white.Business response

Thank you for this concern. We wish to address this as it is important to us to acknowledge our valued Customers issues when they do arise .
First of all, on behalf of Multifood Supermarket , we wish to apologize for any miscommunication that *** have occurred with this situation. It has been brought to our attention that the cashier did ask for permission as we always do in order to proceed with checking closed not visible enclosed areas that are against posted store policy. It is unfortunate that this situation occurred however the cashier is not a strong spoken girl and does not speak very well English . The customer *** of not heard her asking permission. Just for the record, we have several thefts happening at the store almost on a daily basis . It has escalated to a bad level. We are trying out best to monitor and govern this problem with the support of local police also who is aware of our policies and procedures! They support us.
We feel very concerned when any our valued Customers bring a concern to our attention. We DO NOT discriminate against anyone ! We wish to make this clear.
Further as part of our offering to assist our client regain our trust and continue shopping at the store, we wish to extend a sincere offer from Multifood Supermarket to the valued Customer. This offer will be a further 15% discount on her next visit to our store on any purchase . Upon arrival, please report to the **************** front area and present her name and valid ID in order to validate our offering.

We bought a small folder cart for my mom on 8/28/2022, then after two days my mom said she does not want it. I went to the store today(08/30/2022) to return it. I was directed to the store manager who was very impatient. I explained that this cart is still brand new and we just bought it two days ago without using it. He did not believe me and refused to return. he examined the cart carefully and said we've used it as the wheels havea little dust. Of course there is a little dust when we pulled the cart to home, but we really didn't use it to carry over anything. Please see the cart picture and the receipt. My mom hangs it in the storage room now with very good care. This is only a ~$50 cart and it's not a fresh food which can't be return, I just don't understand why the store treats the customers like this. This is the worst experience I have ever had in the past twenty years since I lived in Windsor.
