I hired Frontline Builders in the summer of 2021. They were hired to remove the existing siding from my house, install plywood and reside the house with new materials I provided. The company began work in October 2021 and finished in October 2022. I was told the job would take approximately four weeks. The company had to send workers out multiple times to fix issues which mostly included loose or falling siding. In October 2022 the company deemed the job complete and satisfactory to their own standards, however the issues continued. Since October 2022, I’ve sent the owner countless messages, phone calls, etc. with absolutely no response. He is not even willing to discuss the issues caused by his own work. Towards the end of November 2022, after no response from the company, I contacted three independent companies in efforts to have the issues corrected. All three identified exposed wood, the use of improper fasteners to install the siding properly as well as water issues relating to the siding install. All three companies advised the job was unsalvageable and recommended the removal and reinstallation of all siding. I hired a company who started in January 2023 to redo the entire job. They were met with constant challenges which resulted in the work done by Frontline Builders. As the siding was removed it was discovered that corners were cut and the nails and screws used were too short barely fastening to the wood. There were areas not properly covered and exposed to the elements. Over time, issues with water damage would’ve occurred. I am now out the money paid to Frontline Builders as they were paid in full. I have paid the second company to completely redo the less than adequate work and I also had to purchase additional materials as Frontline Builders cut materials too short and damaged it rendering it unusable.Business response

Goodmorning,
My apologies for the delayed response, I was away on vacation for the last few weeks. In regards to the complaint from ****** yes he did hire my company to perform the siding work at his home. Originally I was supposed to start the job July/August of 2021 however there was a delay in the shipment of his material which he was responsible for taking care of. With this delay it impacted my other scheduled jobs forcing me to delay the start date to the end of the year Nov/Dec. Because we are a general contractor and do not do siding work in house as was explained to ***** many times the sub contractor I had scheduled was unavailable to start. I then hired a new sub contractor that left the job less than satisfactory. I then hired another sub contractor and had my supervisor on site to look after them to go back and and make any repairs that ***** was unhappy with, I even had ***** fill out a warranty claim form and completed all issues listed on the form with picture evidence to show that work was completed to industry standards for siding and even discounted the original price for the headaches. He also mentioned to one of my guys that he does not care about the job and simply wants money back and that he intends to sell the house in the future. Additionally, he threatened to file a law suit which is why I no longer stayed in contact with him as at that point all future communication should go through my lawyer. Lastly he then harassed me by calling me several times a day even in the middle of the night, sending slanderous text messages, contacting my family members on ******** and also spreading false information on ******** by posting pictures that I left his job in a terrible state when that was not the case and I have picture evidence to prove it. Like i said I have pictures from the job being completed to industry standard as well as pictures of the text messages he sent to me to prove what he is claiming in his complaint is not accurate.
Please let me know if there is anything else you need.
Thanks,
*********

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because of the following information which is based on fact. Fact represents evidence which I will detail in a full, frank and fair manner.
As it relates to the timeline for the work done, ********* is incorrect. The materials were supplied by me and he was advised in June of 2022 that the materials had arrived at my residence. He was also shown a picture of the 55 boxes of siding in my garage. (Value + $30,000).In relation to the fact the job had been subcontracted, I was never informed of this until the subcontractor arrived who was ****** ** There was never a supervisor on site as it was only ****** * and his employee that will be referred to as “*****”. Not once did ********* or one of his direct employees attend once ****** * was assigned to take over.
In relation to the warranty details, I was asked to sign a document outlining that once the repairs were made to the contractors liking, I would have no further contact with Frontline Builders. Included in the email was ****** * who was directed to tell me to “Have a nice day” if I refused to sign the document. I crossed out those details on the document and signed it requesting the repairs be done properly and the warranty shall remain in effect.
********* mentioned having photographic proof that the job was done properly. As a result of him never coming to examine the job after completion, I question where these photos came from? I’m assuming they were from ****** *, who through a documented conversation indicated that he was told to do his best to fix the job that had been “pieced together”. Additionally, ****** * advised that he informed ********* that the pieces of siding had been cut too short, he did not have the proper material to make the required repairs and as a result there would be issues fixing things. In regards to the comments about recovering money and me selling my house, the comment is untrue. Additionally, if I were to consider selling my house, it is irrelevant to the topic at hand and certainly does not excuse ********* doing a less than acceptable job.
To address the comments made in relation to slander and false information, slander is the sharing of a false statement from one party to another with the intent to defame. In December 2022, I had *** * *from ****** (sales manager of the siding company), ***** * from ******** ************ (original builder) and **** * from ***** ****** ***** *** (completely redid the entire house after *********’s work) and each told me the same thing. What I was told is that *********’s work was much less than sub-par, the work was unsalvageable and the entire thing needed to be redone to preserve the structural integrity of my house. These three individuals do not know each other and their professional opinions were based on years of experience in the industry. As a result, I did share true photographs taken both before and after on social media. These photographs clearly demonstrated the issues left behind by *********.To address my countless efforts to make contact with *********… I believe it is reasonable that anyone in my position who paid nearly $25,000 for a job that was done improperly would make every attempt possible to try and make things right. It should also be noted that when I was made aware that ********* was aware of my attempts but simply chose to ignore them, my attempts to contact him personally ceased.
In closing, the facts are as follows: ********* was paid nearly $25,000 and supplied with over $30,000 worth of materials to redo my siding. Based on the information provided by ****** *, *** *, ***** * and **** *, the evidence overwhelmingly shows that ********* was either completely negligent in his work or he simply did not have the experience to compete the job properly in the manner in which he promised. The job was clearly not done to industry standards which is clearly the case, or I would not have had to pay someone in excess of $20,000 to redo the job within months of him completing it.Compensation is not only appropriate, it is the only right thing to do.
I have documents, photographs and witnesses to support the fact that everything I’ve said it true.
Sincerely,
***** ********
