We had an emergency boiler issue in our home last week. Climate Care came out, and looked at the boiler, which is around 12 years old. The maintenance person said we were leaking carbon monoxide and the house was unsafe. I pointed to our carbon monoxide gauge which showed '0', and he said, those things aren't worth using, they don't give you a good picture. He got the boiler working and said, that we had to replace it or we might lose heat this winter. We received a quote +$10,000 to replace the unit. I then called another company in to make sure that we weren't wasting money. They looked the unit up and down and said the system was fine, but that whoever had looked at it, had used some cheap sealant which would dissipate in short order. Today that company came in and did a thorough maintenance on the system. They told us it was in good working order, and that the carbon monoxide reading was '0', the same as our plug in monitor. He said the plug-ins are accurate. Total charge from this company for 2 visits was approximately $350 including taxes.

To think that Woodbridge GTA Climate Care wanted to charge us over $10,000 to replace the unit is despicable. I've never written a review before, but people need to be wary, especially when it is your heating or air conditioning where most people might panic and just listen to the repair personnel. I don't want to dispute the charge as someone did come out and spend an hour, but I would like to make others aware of this situation and that they should be wary of going with the first company without checking the validity of their assessment.

From what our records indicate, an initial boiler diagnostic was performed. Our technician found the boiler in a very poor state. In fact, we have photos illustrating the poor condition. The Model and Serial number indicate the unit is 17 years old, not 12 years old. Our service manager also contacted the manufacturer to verify and reconfirm the age of the unit. Due to the poor condition, age and efficiency of the current unit, replacement was recommended. It was the technician's professional opinion to provide the customer with a safe, responsible and educated option. Again, we are sorry to hear the customer did not feel that way about the recommendation.
