We hired *********** ***** in July, 2022. It was for a landscaping project for our home. The agreement was that he would complete the work to be done before winter of 2022 he never gave us a copy of the contract. We gave him a total deposit of $16,500 cash which was 50% of the total expense, in good faith because he was not exactly a stranger. He came a few times and did not spend more than 2 hours and in those 2 hours he probably worked for 1 hour. The only work he did before winter 2022 was excavate the whole frontage of the property and 1/4 of a retaining wall whoch was improperly installed (assessment of new contractor) he gave inadequate responses if any at all. After weeks and months of trying to get him to complete the work he kept delaying over and over, not answering calls or texts. July 2023 we asked him to just give us the rest of the deposit minus the excavation and for both of us to go our own way and he literally blackmailed us saying he cannot give any money and the only way to make it right is to do the job. He made legal as well as verbal and physical threats to me if we would cancel the contract. We decided to hire a lawyer and have the contract terminated. We had a new contractor come give us an assessment of the work done and concluded it wasn't done according to standards and we had to remove whatever he did do and start over. Our lawyer sent him 2 letters in a span of 1 month asking for our money back or there would be precautions and still he does not respond. We find out he has no RBQ license either. Any help would be appreciated. My mother is old and he took advantage of her! This week we are preparing to open up a lawsuit against *********** ***** and his company ****** ********
