Hired to install a new HVAC system. Couldn’t figure out how to wire to the existing boiler system so they brought in a sub contractor to wire the system. I was told the system was good and working by ****. When I went there a week later (I don’t live there) I discovered that the fan for the air handler system wasn’t coming on when it was supposed to (pump was running to heating coil and hot). I advised **** that day (Sept 8) by text and advised of the issue. I told him that my friend who’s a Control Systems Tech was coming out to visit the next day and he’d have a look at it. He immediately discovered the issue: the W1 wire from the air handler was not connected to the relay for the boiler pump, so the fan wouldn’t get the signal to start. The wire was still in the factory bundle of wires untouched. He ran this wire and connected it. Problem #1 solved by someone else. My Wifi thermostat that used to work was removed and replaced with a cheap battery operated unit. When we went to reinstall it we discovered there was 39 volts present at the thermostat. This would have fried the 24V powered thermostat. My friend didn’t have time to stay and resolve this issue and will come back the next time I’m there. He said whatever wiring the “electrician” did created this abnormal condition that didn’t exist previously. I advised **** of all of these issues on Sept 9 and never received a response. On Sept 16 I sent an email to Highmark explaining all of this in detail and requesting a refund of $400 by Sept 30. This was a $15,800 job and I was charged $600 over quote for extra labour which was most likely for this subcontractor who made things worse. No reply to my email or refund by Sept 30. I texted ***** on Oct 3 asking if anyone had anything for me as far as an explanation as to what went on here, and why everyone involved just walked away from this job. He replied by text on Oct 4 suggesting I go after the electrician. I explained he was their sub, so he needed to go
