Thursday March 14 I spoke with Penner’s Agro Auto Services Ltd (the auto shop) receptionist on the phone and asked if I could drop off a vehicle that is involved in an *** claim due to an attempted theft of the vehicle. I roughly explained the type of damages done to the vehicle and enquired about if the auto shop could do the repairs as well as provide a courtesy vehicle. The receptionist (*****) told me that she would check with the owner of the shop and get back to me. Later that day I received a call back from the auto shop receptionist. She told me that she had spoken to the owner and they would do the required repairs as well as give out a courtesy vehicle. On Monday March 18 I received a call from Penner’s Agro Auto Services Ltd during which call the receptionist instructed me to have my car towed to their shop. This is an expense costing over $200 that I had to pay out of pocket due to *** not covering towing outside of Saskatoon for my claim. I made this abundantly clear to the receptionist and was instructed to for sure send the vehicle and come out to Hague to sign the paperwork in order for the shop to fix the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the auto shop on Monday March 18. On Tuesday morning March 19 I received a call from the receptionist at the auto shop informing me they don’t like what *** will pay for labour and parts in order to fix my vehicle therefore they will not work on it. When I asked about reimbursement of towing costs the receptionist told me it is my problem to take up with *** even though they had previously made aware *** doesn’t cover towing to their shop as they are outside of Saskatoon. On Tuesday March 20 I emailed the auto shop and explained that I will return their courtesy vehicle asap but I won’t take time off work to do so. I also asked for a copy of the forms I signed as evidence for this complaint. ** **** ***** *** **** **** ******* ** *** ** ** ******* ********* ** ********* ** **** *** ****** * **********

      Business response

In regards to ***** *****- we had nothing but good intentions,to fix his vehicle. When he first called, he told us he wanted to fix it here, because he could not wait  4 weeks for an *** accredited company to do it-Penners Auto said we could help, not knowing that *** would only pay 46.50/HR. We had not seen the quote ,before we agreed to do it. We had only seen it after the vehicle got here .***** agreed to pay the towing. So in this agreement with ***** -we supplied a courtesy vehicle-free of charge -which was another big reason he wanted to bring it here.

Our shop rate is 130$/hr - flat rate and techs get paid 60$/hr- and at the rate *** was willing to pay us-saying we were back yard mechanics and not accredited - totally not feasible for us to do. Tried to negotiate with *** but we were unsuccessful. We talked to the  complaint to talk to him about the towing-which we never agreed to pay. his complaint should be with ***.
