I have purchased my business name "******* ******** **********" 2 years ago through ***. My business ** name is ***************************. I have built a great reputation with my aesthetic medicine buiness and name throughout the province of Saskatchewan. In the last 2-3 months another Nurse Practitioner in Luseland, Sk. started her own little buisness called prairiepokes_naturalinjector on ** she practices in a Spa called "*** *** ** ******." I have notified her that in order to use this name she has to purchase it through *** and because it is so similar to mine they most likely will not accept it. I have recommended she use PrairiePokes and not PrairiePokes_NaturalInjector but she has not changed it. I am concerned client may think her busniess is associated with our natural injector aesthetics since the name on ** is so similar.Business response

I took a medical aesthetics course directed by the ***.on April 24/25, 2023.The program taught "natural medical aesthetics" so I included the term "natural injector" in my ********* name May 9, 2023.My coworker had met with ***. during follow-up for the program on May 10. She stated ***.made a suggestion we might need to change our name as it could flag when registering our business.I had a follow-up appointment booked with ***. on June 9 so stated I would disuss it with her as I was unsure how to register a business. On June 9 I met with ***. and we worked together in her clinic. She never initiated conversation about the advertising issue of my selected business name.At the end of the shift, I opened up a conversation to discuss any issues with the name selection.***. suggested registering with *** and once again stated she was "just concerned" the name might not pass as she had the term "natural injector" in her business name. She did not explicitly state she did not want the use of "natural injector" or other aspects within the name.I didn't get the sense she was upset over the matter.I stated I would register a name through *** and would wait for confirmation before rebranding the business on **.We departed on good terms and have since been in contact.***. has my personal number and email and follows me on ** and has never communicated this problem to me.I sent a request for the name Prairie Pokes Natural Aesthetics to *** on June 14. I have not heard back from *** at this point but the name was "temporarily available" upon payment for the name.Coincidentally, I did change my ********* name to @prairiepokes_medicalaesthetics June 23(before receiving this complaint)as I still have not heard back from ***.I do not have an issue with changing the name, but communication should have been used in this matter. I think further issues like this could be easily avoided with general education incorporated into ***.'s course or through written or verbal communication.
