We got 6 pot lights installed in our living room a few days before Christmas and due to faulty products or installation the lights leaked leaving water rings around three pot lights. The company came back and fixed the light but not our roof. I have called the company multiple times( they have never called me) and have been told they are trying to find some spray can that can fix our roof . It has been 8 months and nobody has done anything. We payed our bill the day after the work was completed which I regret because apparently they don't stand behind their work. I asked why they can't put a claim in on their insurance and was told it doesn't cover this type of repair. He did offer to have his daughter's mother in law come paint it but we have popcorn ceiling. We have been more than patient when it comes to this and the owner just keeps saying it's a supply issue for this spray can stuff but this product no longer exists.

    Business Response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/08/19) */ In December 2021 we prepared an estimate for the customer to "Supply and install 6 recessed LED fixtures in living room" as well as some other electrical work. This estimate also clearly stated "Patching and painting (if required) are not included." This statement is included in our estimates because we cannot determine or be held accountable for conditions beyond our control which may include things such as structural issues, vapour barrier issues, humidity issues inside both the living space and attic of the home etc. We received a call from the customer stating that one of the fixtures was not working properly and that there were some water marks on the ceiling. We replaced the faulty fixture (at no cost) and arranged to have a licensed,. professional painting contractor with approximately 30 years of experience, look at the water marks and advise us on the correct way to repair these water marks. The six fixtures installed at this customers home are among the more than 300 we installed in 2021 and have continued to install in 2022., all without other issues or complaints. I do not accept that the issues here are solely the result of either poor workmanship or product quality. Conditions within the house are also in play. There is an aerosol product which is used to cover these types of marks but due to international supply chain issues beyond our control, this product was not available at the time. The immediate and available solution was to have the entire main floor ceiling which was deemed unacceptable by the customer. The aerosol product has since returned to the market but ONLY within the USA. It is expected to return to the Canadian market but there is no confirmed date for this. Other spray-on powder products were also used in the past for this type of repair which have been discontinued by the manufacturers of these alternate products.
