The moment the broker who is not responding, sgi refused to me. Continues to pull insurance payments and insure a residence I have moved from, It was 3 month leading up to the move I fought to get the broker to respond. Now I have to go through my bank and block sgi. I won’t ever deal with sgi, they refuse to help you with out a middle person.

I went into SGI today the *** office in North Battleford. I was trying to put a permit on my motorhome and the lady I dealt with first was very kind and courteous. It took a few hours to figure out a resolution but everything worked out in the end. I had left and waited for SGI to call me and then returned when the resolution have been completed. This is where the problem began. The second lady I spoke with upon my return was very uncourteous, very rude to me and tried to charge me $200 in GST to put a day permit on my $1,000 motorhome. When she told me that I looked up my mother who was with me and I swore in speaking with my mom. From this point on the lady s demeanor deteriorated further, yelling at me and telling me not to swear and that she's not helping me anymore. I immediately said sorry and told her that I was speaking with my mother. At that point she turned off her computer and said she wasn't helping me. The first lady was listening and she came and helped me without any further problems. The lady I have issues with her name is kiyara C*******. When I said that I would be filing a complaint she stood up and laughed at me and told me it didn't matter because she only has a few days left working at SGI anyway. That's my opinion that she shouldn't be working there at this point and any reference that SGI gives her should be a bad one. I'll be going out of my way to let this be known to our public. It took me an extra 45 minutes for the other lady to fill out online paperwork again and then I left without having to overpay. The lady who helped me, her name was Charlotte m*******. Charlotte deserves a raise because she is the only asset to the SGI North Battleford that you have. ****** ******** ** ** *** ** ** ************ *** *** ****** ***** ** **** *** ** **** *** ******** ***** ******** *******

SGI Auto fund points system is a complete money grab!!! I had a 150.00 minor speeding ticket on highway, then was charged a fee of 450.00, totalling $600.00 for minor speeding violation!!! This company is excessively exploiting its customers due to its long term monopoly and is making billions in the process. Clients should have a choice of insurance companies like other provinces.

      SGI (Saskatchewan Government Insurance) Response

      01/10/2021

Traffic safety is a priority for SGI and the Safe Driver Recognition (SDR) points program is meant to promote safe driving habits and deter individuals from riskier driving behaviour, which makes our roads safer for everyone. The program balances financial penalties for poor driving behaviour and rewards safe driving with reduced rates.

The financial penalties are dependent on the severity of the traffic violation (i.e. likelihood of causing a collision or increased chance of injury) and where that driver is on the Safety Rating Scale. More severe offences are assessed a higher number of demerit points. For each demerit point on the negative side of the scale (penalty zone), the driver is charged $50. The penalties under the program are separate from any Ministry of Justice fines for the actual offence. The ticket fine is for the offence itself; the penalties under SDR reflect the increased insurance risk of unsafe driving behaviors.

Drivers in the penalty zone represent a higher risk of collision and are therefore assessed financial penalties for incidents they are involved in. It is standard practice in the insurance industry to surcharge drivers to compensate for the risk of future loss. The more traffic convictions and/or at-fault collisions a driver is responsible for, the lower the driver's safety rating, and therefore the higher the financial penalty they must pay for each incident.

Drivers who remain in the penalty zone for three incident-free years, while holding an active driver's licence, will automatically move out of the penalty zone and return to the neutral zone (the starting point). Drivers can begin to earn points towards a discount again provided they continue to practice safe driving habits. This means that no matter how many demerit points a driver may have, three clear years of safe driving will automatically move them back into the neutral zone and allow them to start earning points towards a discount.

For anyone who may require assistance with their financial penalty, SGI offers a payment plan to assist them in repaying outstanding amounts. Customers can contact SGI's Customer Service Centre at 306-775-6900 or 1-844-855-2744 for further details about a payment plan.
