We made a deposit of 42 thousand with Olympic Builders based out of Saskatchewan,in October of 2021 with a contract start date of nov 1-7. We have heard very little from them When we enquire of a start date they defer us and don't have one We are concerned and would like our building to be built and if they are unable to build it , we would like a full refund .

Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2022/02/02) */ Olympic Buildings Sask did plan to build for the customer. During the design period of the building the timelines needed to be adjusted as getting proper drawings done to work for the local requirements took more time which push the permit time out. During this time the builder that was going to do the project in Alberta decided he was not going move forward with the build. Olympic Buildings Sask made every effort to find a builder to do the construction, but had no luck. Since we could not find a builder to build the building we had 2 options of waiting until we could find a builder or refund the deposit. The customer at that point decided they would like a refund. This refund was asked for on January 27th, 2022 they requested their deposit to be sent back to them so it was issued and sent by express post on January 31st, 2022 and we made them aware if they would like the plans they are their at no cost to see if they can maybe find someone else to install the building for them. Consumer Response /* (3000, 8, 2022/02/11) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The response from Olympic builders was unsatisfactory inas it was mostly not true. There was literally very little communication from them and as deadlines to build our structure past , we were constantly leaving messages and email looking for answers .finally near the end of January we were feeling like something was wrong and that we were concerned about getting our deposit back .Two days after we contacted the BBB on this forum , Olympic Builders sent us an email stating that due to a shortage of supplies and labour they were unable to fulfil our contract and would refund our deposit money . This was more information than we had from them in four months. We are convinced that had we not contacted the BBB, we would still be waiting for a building from Olympic builders . We have deposited the cheque they sent us for the deposit and are just waiting for it to clear . We have since hired an Alberta builder and should have our structure up within a month . There is no waiting for supply or labour with any of three other companies we have contacted this month. This event with Olympic Builders has set us back a few months, but if their cheque clears we are considering ourselves fortunate that this forum enabled a resolution for us . Business Response /* (1000, 23, 2022/03/11) */ We responded in an email on December 1st, 2021 that was sent to us on December 1st, 2021 that stated "We want a crew here by Monday morning December 6th or we will cancel the contract and we want a refund", so we responded to an email that we were not able to obtain a builder for their building and had a couple of options. We would refund all of there deposit and they could keep the plans and maybe find a local crew to put the building up and/or supply just the material part of the package so they would have that if they found a contractor to install the building. The customer choose to wait to see if we could find a builder after giving us a deadline. We tried to find a builder to erect their building but had no luck into January. Which again we told them January 27th that we would be cancelling the project and sending them a refund. the refund was sent to them on January 31st, 2022. It is unfortunate that we could not find a crew to install the building for the customer and had no other option but to delay the building or to cancel the order. We are happy the customer found a local company to install the building. Our goal was to do the same for the customer.
