The business addressed the issues within the complaint, but the consumer either a) did not accept the response, OR b) did not notify BBB as to their satisfaction.

On 10/9/23 I contacted Auto Care plus to have a state inspection performed. Auto Care Plus LLC made a decision to fail the car for "Rear brake rotor surface rusted or delaminating". They then informed me they needed to replace the brakes. I disclosed to them that the car had not been driven in quite some time, as it was my daughters car and she did not yet have her license. It was only used to practice driving, and had been sitting for over a month prior to it being brought to the shop, and the rust on the brake rotors was exclusively a result of it sitting (all rotors do this). The state inspection law governing this is Saf-C 3212 BRAKES (14) Any brake drum or disc: a. Shows evidence of mechanical damage other than wear; b. Has contaminants including, but not limited to, rust, pitting, delamination, oil, grease, or any other substance on the friction surface that would affect proper brake operation; The last line of the above "...affect proper brake operation" is where i dispute this. There is no evidence that the surface rust affected proper operation of the brakes. This is surface rust common with a vehicle sitting. I agreed to have the replace the rear brakes, as they had backed me into a corner of it needing to be done for a valid inspection sticker. Only after i learned the work was done was i informed the charge for the replacement brakes was $571.97, including a charge for brake cleaning chemicals (??) and "hardware" (??) and $230 for the rotors themselves. Rear brake rotors are commonly available for 40-50 dollars each. In conclusion, this shop backed me into a corner of a false inspection failure, then proceeded to drastically over charge for the work, and not perform the job correctly. When replacing the brakes on this vehicle, part of the service includes replacement of the brake pad sensors, which was not done. This is a completely unfair business practice. I was a loyal customer to this place since 2014, its really sad to see how bad this place has gone in just a short few years. Back when **** was manager, he took care of his customers. Unfortunately it doesnt seem as if this company cares about the customers over the $$ these days. As time goes on it seems as if they take their sweet time to do literally anything. They also like to say some things need to be done when they were JUST done or dont need it. Like I said, this is very unfortunate because this company used to be wonderful. After my boyfriends appointment today for inspection. I dont think I would be returning to this establishment again. I understand they just got slammed for faulty inspections in the past His vehicle failed due to a small rust spot under the size of a quarter. He fixed it and brought it back in to re-inspect it just to tell him he needs new wipers now and a light replacement on an aftermarket grill. They never mentioned that when telling him the only thing needed was the rust spot being fixed. All the receptionist said was oh our mechanics are diligent in their work so it must of failed some point from last inspection until now. Its been driven under 20 miles and kept in the garage and fixed in that same garage since then, so Im not sure how the wipers NOW needed fixing. The car is finally inspected but it took them a total of 7 hours to finish inspecting the vehicle. ******** down the road is a bit more pricy but I promise you will get better service there now unfortunately.

*****, we're sorry to hear you had an unsatisfactory visit at our shop, this is now what our customers expect as you have pointed out. We're not sure why the wipers weren't mentioned on the initial inspection and apologize for that. As for the light, while it could have been working initially was not working when it was brought back in so it needed to be corrected. Aftermarket or not, if there is a light on the vehicle it must work per state guidelines. Lights can fail at any time, usually without warning. Ultimately our job is to make sure your vehicle is safe for you to operate and for everyone else on the road. The car was in a month earlier and had 70, not 20 miles on it since being inspected, not that much of a difference but just want to be accurate here. We have not "got slammed for faulty inspections" recently and are not sure where you got that information but it is in fact not true. Actually we have been asked many times by the state, along with state inspection officials, to assist in reinspecting vehicles that customers from other shops have filed complaints with. We will do better to serve our customers in a timely manner and apologize for any inconvenience. We appreciate your feedback as it only helps improve our service to our customers and have addressed this with our staff.
