Do not buy. I purchased travel insurance to cover a church mission trip May 2024 to ********** ******* right before the Oct. 7, 2023 terrorist attack by Hamas. As per the church guidelines, I had purchased the airline tickets separately so spent $1,221 directly for flights from ***** Airlines and purchased travel insurance. The U.S. Department of State issued a travel advisory due to terrorism, civil unrest and armed conflict in some areas (Gaza), which is still in effect. The church canceled the trip in January 2024 and is not rescheduling the trip. ***** Airlines refused to refund the ticket due and only offered very limited travel vouchers options for which I could not use. I filed a claim to get my flight ticket reimbursed due to canceled trip and terrorism and Travel Insured refused the claim because the terrorist incident did not occur within 30 days of my trip in May 2024 and that my policy did not cover cancellation by my travel supplier (church). What kind of travel insurance does not cover travel supplier trip cancellation? Also Travel Insured said since the airline did not charge me a reissue fee, they could not even repay me the fee, even though ***** Airlines has been difficult in canceling flights and issuing usable travel vouchers. Travel Insured claimed that only the single day in Oct 7, 2023 was the terrorist act. I had submitted U.S. Department of State's travel advisory indicating ongoing terrorism since that October 7, 2023 start date in Israel then filed an appeal claiming this could be covered due to ongoing terrorism. Travel Insured then denied the claim saying that this was not terrorism but was war and there is no policy coverage for war. I appealed the decision showing travel advisories from U.S. Department of State that says Israel is undergoing continued terrorism, not a war, compared to Ukraine-Russia's travel advisory clearly classifying that as war. Travel Insured playing fast and loose with definitions to not reimburse claims.

Review ID: 199058 According to the plan document outlining the coverage purchased, benefits are provided for cancellation expenses due to “a Terrorist Incident that occurs within 30 days of Your Scheduled Departure Date in a city listed on the itinerary of Your Trip”. As the terrorist incident on October 07, 2023, which prompted your cancellation did not occur within 30 days of your scheduled departure date, May 12, 2024, your claim is not eligible for reimbursement. Furthermore, Israel declared war on October 08, 2023, and so the continued violence is considered acts of war and are excluded from coverage. While we sympathize with your situation, we are required to review all claims based on the terms and conditions of the plan purchased.
