Synchrony is the absolute WORST credit card company on the planet! It doesn't matter if you've been a customer for 20 years. It doesn't matter if you used the card and paid on it every single month. If your credit temporarily drops at all they will either significantly drop your available credit or just close your account completely. They will use credit scores from over a year ago and they offer no help and no warning!! If you want your credit score to take a drastic nose dive, then by all means, use a Synchrony credit card!Review from Bill R

I had a account with a business and they approved me for a account. And have always payed my bills on time. 6 months later synchrony closed that account because of my credit ratings dropped. I did not give them permission to keep checking with my credit. This company is the worst I have ever seen. I will not have anything else to do if a company uses synchrony for there credit I will not apply. And so would everyone else.Review from Ify N

I called synchrony to report that I did not receive the furniture they financed through Ashley Furniture. The customer service agent disconnected the phone on me. Pls be careful with these people. All they want is to rope you in. They don’t care if you received the product you payed for or not.Review from Jacquelyn B

They bombard you with filters, ads, and pop ups on your amazon account. Finally decided to sign up. Never got the initial card. They sent a second one. Finally got it and when i got my first statement... Made a payment on the first of the month thru their guest portal. Paid the statement and balance in full. A week later I got a nasty collect debt call from them. The payment did not process. I immediately called their customer service. They said that the bank account did not exist. So I provided her again, with the bank and routing number I used for all my other credit cards. Seemed to go through. Until a week later when they deactivated my card for non payment. I called customer service immediately and offered payment from another checking account. I did not have the routing number on hand but customer service told me I could use the debit card associated with the account. I gave her the debit card . She said "looks like I can't process that payment-this is a credit card". I again told her no. This was a debit card. She couldn't get the payment to go thru. I logged on to try and pay through the website but then my log in would jot work because I had an old JCP card with synchrony, so I had to log in under that log in to enter payment. I no longer used that account so it was a bit of a nuisance to log in to the portal. I had to talk to customer service yet again. I got online....entered the SAME routing number and banking account I had been using and the payment Finally went through. A month later they closed the account without warning, though I held no balance on the credit card. I have an 800+ credit score and a 100% on time payment history. I have never had this many issues paying a credit card and I have never experienced such poor customer service. Good riddance.Review from Donald C

Took my payment and wanted to hold it for 21 days before opening my credit back up. They never in all my years as a customer received a bad check ... I paid Sams Club with a cashiers check.. I talked to several "agents" and all said the same thing. I told them to close my account, Ill gove my business to another credit card company.Review from Tara D

I received an offer for a Synchrony Mastercard with 0% interest for 12 months. I applied and was approved for $7000 credit limit. I attempted to transfer a balance from one card to synchrony but it stated that there were no transfer offers at this time. Upon applying for the synchrony card and the day I received the card in the mail there was an offer for 0% interest for. balance transfer. I called customer support and was told there are no transfer offers at this time. This is false advertising. I only applied because of the 0% offer. I immediately closed the account once I realized my credit was checked based upon false information. Do better Synchrony.Review from Linda W

Worst experience of my life in the past week I received emails at night with letters stating they lowered my credit limit on my Lowe’s and my Amazon. The reasons they gave were not even acceptable. I have called now probably 50 times have reached out to the corporate office, which is a huge joke you send an email to the corporate secretary and the same with the call line. Nobody responds back. This company needs something done with it, I am now have eight accounts with them and I am about to cancel them all they are making huge issues. Five of my friends just called me this morning and they said they all got emails last night canceling their accounts. The call center people say you cannot reach out to the back and office they can’t even reach out to them, how are you ever supposed to get anything resolved? I am a perfect paying customer with perfect credit and this is affecting my credit.Review from Jeannette D

My complaint is with PayPal Inc and their bank . Ever since this bank has taken over . I don’t know what’s going on. I started seeing some type of bill for payment in the last two maybe three years . I didn’t know what it was for. I just thought PayPal was charging me money on purchases .i would call them and ask them did I owe them money they would say no. Then I would see an amount in red saying I need to pay this. Well it took me two years to finally realize that PayPal had put me into an PayPal credit account and I had to pay money. So I pay the merchant or PayPal back because they take the money out of your bank account. I’m not sure if it’s to use the PayPal service or to pay off a purchase . Once they closed my pay by three. Now it says I owe them $139.00 paying $41 monthly well $41.00 really crunches my budget as I have to buy medications that cost &150 . So I look at the options of reduced payments. PayPal or their bank punishes customers that use that option by permanently closing their PayPal account . They tell you you won’t be able to use their services ever again. Even when you pay them the money for PayPal credit which I still don’t understand how I got it. There are some stores that only have PayPal as another option! So if I don’t want my PayPal account closed I have to pay this money. If it is for purchases then PayPal needs to show that. Not a fee separate that just says PayPal creditReview from Dylan H

This company charged me in March 2024 on an Amazon/Synchrony credit card. I have never used the card. Received a bill and was surprised. Called synchrony and they could not figure out what I was charged for. They said I used it on Amazon. Ok, called Amazon and they have no record of me ever using it. Was told to call synchrony and again they could not disclose any information other than I owe $15. I had them investigate it twice only for interest and late payments to be added on. Of course they denied my claim. Still no proof as to what I bought. Just to stop the bleeding I paid $18 and change so they would leave me alone. Then I had to close the account before they could try and charge me again for no reason. Closing the account affects my credit score on top of having to pay these bullies before they could do more damage.Review from Jazmyne C

This company has ZERO regards to their clients & customers. I asked for an extension to help me make my payment before a balloon payment hit my account no rep or manager cared. My monthly payments were automatic and set so the payments would meet the requirements of the promotion unfortunately the payments were decreasing leaving me with a large remaining balance & now the compounded interest added the account brings my balance right back to where I started. Making the payments I made go down the drain! I’m livid I spoke to 4 different people no one cared someone told me I can make a full payment when I tried they don’t take credit cards so now I’m stuck in a position to take a loss after my credit has taken a dive twice from this establishment reporting a maxed out card on my report
