With all the one-star reviews, why does the BBB give them an A+ rating? How does TransAmerica do it? Is there a payoff going on or something, is it because they're a mega company? Our experience with TransAmerica relates to long term care insurance and their delay tactics for paying out. Been seeing one-star averages on other review sites, it's incredible. I don't understand, do they really have no conscience, hitting people when they're already struggling?Review from Cindy S

Cashed in my policy May 12, 2024 and received confirmation that check was mailed. It is now six weeks and still no check. **************** is terrible!!! The only # I can call is a foreign call center that hangs up on you when they dont know answers. Asked for a supervisor and was told one wouldnt be in for three days and six weeks later no call. Someone is supposedly helping now, so fingers crossed. Needs a zero review!Review from Tamyra C

My mother death policy has not been paid over 60 days I have submitted paperwork at least ten times so I can resolve my mother final affairs. If this is how you handle a death benefit, I will not recommend to anyone.Review from Jason S

Horrible to deal with when paying out death benefits. My mother passed 13 years ago. My father passed 8 years ago. As the only child alive I was contacted by Transamerica and notified of her policy. Since then it has been nothing but form after form after form, pull documents after documents 5 times now a letter always needing something else (Implying that's the only thing left to do) yet it's never enough. Same info over and over. More documentation sent than is necessary yet still stalling. Wasting my time doing their job and still no pay out. I only wish 0 stars was possible. Clearly they're going to keep the money no matter what documentation as proof (Death certificates for both parents, my personal info, receipts for funeral, etc). The only thing left to send them is a dna or blood sample I guess but in the end it still won't be enough. Very sad that our government regulatory system allows this deceptive business practices.Review from Johanna N

I have been in contact with Transamerica since 3/26/24 letting them know that our mother passed away and the family is trying to settle her accounts. At that time, they took the names and addresses me and my siblings. We were supposed to receive packets in the mail within 10 days. They have never shown up. I called again on 4/19/24 and spoke with someone who actually seemed to be knowledgeable. She could not comment on my siblings, but she did offer and sent my packet through secure email. I received the email, completed all of the necessary Claimant Statements. I faxed the completed packet and death certificate on 5/2/24. I have called on 5/18/24 and again on 6/5/24 and have been told that the forms have been received and are correct. They are still working on completing my account setup. I agree with the other comments about this company. No one takes the extra steps to get anything accomplished for the policyholder. I cannot say anything positive about this company.Review from George E

I had been a loyal customer for 31+ years when I received a notice that my premiums were being increased by 400%, and that an immediate payment of 800% of current premium was required within 14 days to retain coverage. To say that I have become disillusioned with the company, would be an understatement. When I contacted their customer service I received the classic run around with absolutely no logical reason being provided for the increase. One of the reasons I selected this company initially was because of their association with NCOA, who I will also be contacting to voice my displeasure. It's to bad that the BBB grading system does not provide for negative stars.Transamerica Life Insurance Company Response

My husband passed away on 3/29/24. I filed the claim on 4/2/24. Today is 6/4/24 and all I can get from them is that the claim is under review. This is a paid in full policy that my MIL bought for him in May 1949. They only mail out checks, therefore causing me to continually causing me to watch the mail. STRESSFUL, as if I'm not already stressed. I've already collected from his policy with another company, settled things with the VA, and Social Security. I feel like they're a scam. I would never buy a policy with them!Review from Ben G

I canceled my policy two weeks ago. They still took money on my account. They did the same thing to my wife . Once I got the policy I was reading thur it and realized all the fees . I didnt want it anymore. I called and text the agent to cancel the policy. The agent said okay. They still took money out of my account two weeks later. I called the company headquarters no answer, there closed. What insurance company is closed ever. The main headquarters should always be open. This is feeling very much like a scam. They are so unprofessional. Filed a loan beginning of may. Loan was approved may 10th and was supposed to be wired to my account never happened. I called every 2 days to get a status and i get all excuses that accounting is working on it. Asked them to escalate multiple times and was promised multiple callbacks. They never called me back or email. Every call you make they give another answer. They will email management to push along the process and still nothing happens. Its the end of the month and now i am still requesting for the funds.Transamerica Life Insurance Company Response
