Generating and heightening high school students' awareness of basic consumer knowledge and skills.

Teens are full-fledged consumers, but many are lacking the basic financial literacy to allow them to make sound decisions. Now as they come adults, they are at greater risk of falling prey to questionable offers, negative and costly buying experiences, and poor spending and credit practices.

This 40- to 80-minute workshop offers tools to help students make better buying decisions and have greater success with their finances. 

Students Will Learn About:

  • Using Credit Wisely by identifying the advantages and disadvantages of using credit, knowing how a poor credit rating and credit practices can lead to serious financial problems.
  • Using Cell Phones Wisely is used to illustrate how carelessness with consumer purchases can lead to victimization and financial loss.
  • Planning, Budgeting & Saving - Developing a Spending Strategy by handling money wisely to achieve your life goals, whether it's college, a car, a vacation, or a home in the future.
  • Avoiding Identity Theft by guarding against the gateway thieves and recovering from it if it happens.
