Below you will find the rules and eligibility for the BBB Serving Western Michigan Torch Awards for Ethics. Any questions should be directed to:

Torch Awards Rules and Eligibility
To be eligible for this award, an organization must:
Have been in operation for at least 3 years
Earned at least a “B” rating from BBB
Indicate they have met their financial obligations (charities)
Not have won this award in the past three years (2021, 2022 or 2023)
Operate in BBB Western Michigan service area
An organization is not eligible to compete if they have not met all of the above criteria. Note: BBB Accreditation is NOT a requirement to apply for or receive this award.
Anyone can nominate an organization.
Businesses and nonprofits are invited to submit a formal application for the BBB Torch Award. The application includes information on your organization, and why it is deserving for a Torch Award for Ethics. Award presentations will be held December 9, 2024 in Grand Rapids. With this later awards date, we have extended the deadline for applications to September 20, 2024
Submissions are grouped into categories by number of employees. One winner is picked per category for the award.
Business:
Category I: 1-10 Employees
Category II: 11-50 Employees
Category III: 51-175 Employees
Category IV: 175+ Employees
Nonprofit:
Category V: 1-20 Employees
Category VI: 21+ Employees
Judging Process
Entries will be reviewed by an independent panel of judges pulled from the business and nonprofit community. The judges determine the finalists and award recipients for each category. Finalists and winners will be recognized at Torch Awards for Ethics ceremony to be held December 9, 2024.
