Torch Awards for Ethics presented by Bridge City Law

Torch Awards for Ethics

The BBB Foundation Torch Awards for Ethics honors businesses committed to outstanding leadership character, workplace culture, customer relationships, and community support.

About the BBB Torch Awards

The Torch Award is the most prestigious honor a business can receive from BBB. This is how we deliver on our mission to celebrate marketplace role models and highlight businesses that put trust and integrity at the heart of everything they do.

With so many outlets to shop from, more businesses are doubling down on trust, connecting with customers, and taking care of their teams. It’s these businesses that deserve to win an award and we want to hear from you!

A 2024 Torch Awards winner said:

“Winning the BBB Torch Award—not once, but twice—is an incredible honor for me and the entire team at Lifetime Home Remodeling. This recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to integrity, transparency, and doing right by our community and customers—every single time. We’re proud of the values our business is built on, and this award inspires us to continue raising the bar. It’s a privilege to be trusted partners in the homes and lives of our clients.”

- CoCo Criste, Lifetime Home Remodeling (2024 Torch Awards winner)

American Furniture Warehouse was founded in 1975 when Jake Jabs purchased the struggling, 90-year-old American Furniture Company. Under Jabs' leadership over the last four decades, American Furniture Warehouse is vastly different than the one-store operation he purchased in 1975. The company has expanded into a fourteen-store operation that has experienced a remarkable growth trend over the years.

Today, American Furniture Warehouse, which is headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, is one of the top retail furniture companies in the U.S. with sales topping $700 million in 2018 and with nearly 3,000 employees throughout Colorado, Arizona, and Texas.

At today's American Furniture Warehouse, customers enjoy the largest selection of quality, stylish home furnishings and accessories at the lowest prices in the state. What's more, American Furniture Warehouse is known to have the largest selection of furniture under one roof in the United States.

American Furniture Warehouse makes a priority of working efficiently and keeping costs low, so that those savings can be passed on to the more than one million customers the company serves each year.

The story of DaBella is anything but typical.

In our industry, it’s common for people to talk about the dream of one day owning their own business, often driven by the desire to make a lot of money. The start to our story, however, is different. It entails a motivated, young family who had worked in the home improvement industry but envisioned a different kind of home services company. The goal was not just to build a business, but to create an extended family, where employees, suppliers and most importantly, customers, were part of the family.

Not coincidentally, the company was founded at the same time as the family was blessed with twins. In fact, the name of the company comes from a combination of their names — David and Isabella. But DaBella is so much more than a company’s name. From the beginning it has been a second family name for employees. It’s the nameplate of a company who works in the name of families.
