This needs to be reported on. Nelnet is charging those students that received notices their loan would be forgiven by the Biden Administration because of the fraudulent activities at the Art Institute. Nelnet sent letters claiming these loans would go into forbearance until July 5. Now these borrowers received notices they would placed back into a regular repayment schedule. We contacted Nelnet and they claimed they did not receive instructions beyond the July 5 forbearance from the Borrowers Defense. They are claiming there is nothing they can do however other loan companies have already forgiven these individuals yet Nelnet is trying to make money from these poor students who were already defrauded. I will provide you all the facts but this NEEDS to be made public. It’s the duty of this organization to ensure people are credible and doing things legally which Nelnet is not. I hope you will fact check and post this story.Review from Sarah R

I have been advised by now that representatives on the rare occasion I could sit on hold for the lengthy duration to speak with a person that I don’t need to pay more than the minimum amount. This advice would increase my loan balance overtime due to ridiculous interest charges. Whenever I seem to try to make extra payments to bring my balance down, there’s almost always an issue with their two factor authentication system. It states it cannot generate a code for me. When I try to contact someone it sends me to a robot chat that does nothing except tell me how to reset my password, but the website won’t let me or direct me to call where I have to sit on hold sometimes for hours and otherwise I just have to wait a few days while interest continues to before I can apply extra money into my loan. It is absolutely ridiculous.Review from Vincentia S

I want to rate this less than one star but it is not an option. I've been repaying on a loan. I had an agreed amount being paid ($377.00/month). I went to make that payment for this month and noticed more than $1500 due. When I contacted Nelnet to speak to customer service, they informed me that it is the correct amount. They adjusted my loan repayment terms to this amount to pay off the loan for the specified time frame. This is not only highly unprofessional (adjusting loan terms without any written consent or warning) but is entirely detrimental to my income circumstance. There is no way to consolidate the remaining loans or establish any type of payment plan aside from their income-based, deferment or forbearance. I don't want to NOT pay, I simply want to work a different re-payment schedule. Having a payment nearly quadruple in amount is meant to cripple the borrower from repayment.Review from Sarah H

Can never ever sign into my account to make a payment and they tell me they can do it over the phone. Absolutely not , I want to see what I am paying towards. How is this even allowed ???? Give me access to my login and I’ll pay. Until then leave me alone and I’ll continue to complainReview from Hayden J

Constant login issues, you cannot login half the time to make a payment. This company is run by incompetent money grubbers.Review from Kelly K

Just had my student loans switched from another company to Nelnet. This company has THE WORST website I've seen since 1999. In just a few months I've had dozens of occasions in which I can't log on to the website to check my accounts, payments, etc. The AI chat is utterly useless and just now the system fritzed out in the middle of a payment and when I tried to log back on I can't. It's simply inexcusable to have this nonfunctional of a website in 2024. And worse yet, I didn't have a choice about this switch, it just happened to me. Frustrating beyond words.Review from Torrey K

I give Nelnet 0 stars. I payed off my loan through their website during covid. When repayment started, I was emailed that my payments would start again and for more than before. THIS IS THE WORST COMPANY AND WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. Do not service your loans through Nelnet. IF you can move them, move them. They steal money and then tell you "they have no idea where it went, even though records are sent of it being taken out of your bank account". Supervisors are unbelievably rude, and they always say "we made a note, we will call you back and they NEVER CALL BACK". This is the most horrible company and business the government has ever put out there. I will advise as many people as I possibly can to move their loans to another servicer. If you don't want your money stolen, then move your loans to another reliable companyReview from Marcie S

I have had my school loans through Nelnet for several years and always received great service until they went with Sloan Servicing. Their attachment to this company has made their loan advisors unavailable. I have repeatedly tried to get through on the phone numbers given and tried messaging on Facebook, and the only way to contact them is through the mail. I have waited 30 days for a new payment plan to be confirmed when their message says it takes only 3 days. I received an email asking me to call and verify, but you can't get through. Customer service is a 0. This affects my credit rating, and I am deeply troubled by the new system.Review from Megan Y

I wish I could give them negative, they don't even deserve one star Yesterday, 6.14.2024, I called Nelnet for the 6th time in a 2-3 week period. Nelnet randomly emailed me and started billing me while in school, according to the email, I wasn't enrolled more than half time. But when I called it's because they said I graduated. So far. Two different stories. No one was able to help me to give me proper guidance in getting this resolved. 5 calls got me no where and a few of the employees pretty much lied to me and told me something would get done but didn't. I called yesterday, the 6th call, and Colleen answers. She cuts me off before I can finish aby sentence, kept repeating herself and wouldn't let me finish any points or explain why something was the way it was. She didn't want to hear it, the tone of her voice just sounded like she didn't care about anything but her paycheck, and because they have no been honest in the past, she was snippy to me about not trusting them. She was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had in a long time. The only thing she managed to do correctly was actually reflect the changes on my account that I've been trying to get done and told was done by the last few people I talked to. This has been very stressful to deal with the last few weeks. Nelnet is awful, not honest, and Colleen is the worst employee experience I've had with them. I have heard nothing but bad things about this loan servicer. I will also tell any and everyone this experience as well. They are not an A+ company. They are dishonest and like to pull people in different directions to waste their time.Review from Justin F

Was never disclosed at proper email address for servicing to be switch to a different company. Now i'm delinquent when my account was in great status. Sloan is worse now trying to deal with them. They can't make things easy at all. Just stay with the one company.
