    the Michigan Department of State v Carvana LLC

    The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.

    On October 7, 2022, Carvana LLC has been summarily suspended by the Michigan Department of State. The suspension settles allegations that the business failed to make application for title and registration within 15 days of delivery for 112 customers since agreeing to an earlier probation extension; committed fraudulent acts in connection with selling or otherwise dealing in vehicles where the business employees admitted to destroying title applications and all applicable documents pertaining to the sale of three vehicles that were sold to customers. The business failed to maintain odometer records, improperly issued temporary registrations, failed to have records available for inspection during reasonable or established business hours, possessed improper odometer disclosure records on which the odometer disclosure had been signed on behalf of the purchaser, and violated terms of a probation agreement 127 times. The department is seeking revocation of the dealer's license.

    Illinois Secretary of State v Carvana LLC

    The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.

    On January 24, 2023, Carvana LLC entered into a Settlement Agreement with the Illinois Secretary of State. The Settlement agreement settles allegations that the business was issuing out-of-state temporary registration permits and for failing to transfer titles in a timely manner as required by the state's vehicle code. Under terms of the settlement, the business agreed to adhere to Illinois law in the future; surrender its $250,000 bond; and allow for pre and post-licensing Secretary of State Police inspections to ensure it remains in compliance. The settlement agreement allows the Illinois Secretary of State to summarily suspend and revoke Carvana's dealership license once again if it fails to comply with either the agreement or the laws.

      Between my husband and I this is the 6th vehicle we have bought from Carvana and have been mostly pleased with our experiences over the years. However, our most recent purchase that we bought 4 months ago has been in the shop several times and fortunately Silver Rock has covered everything until now. We have brought it in several times the past two or three months for a clunk under the vehicle that the first shop could never figure out. Brought it to a new place that found cracked and dry rotted rear mounting bushings- something that doesn't happen in 4 months, was obviously present when we bought it, and kept bringing it in to have looked at. $1,100 fix that neither Silver Rock or Carvana will rectify. They just keep sending us back to one another. Yes, it's normal wear and tear not a mechanical issue but if these vehicles go through a 150 point inspection as they claim this should have been discovered and addressed prior to selling the vehicle.

      If I could leave zero stars I would. They pulled money from our account on July 31. The day of delivery two hours before they told us that theres a warning light on the car and it will not be available for another two weeks. Now we wont have the person home and they cannot work with us. We cant have the car that we planned to purchase for my husbands commute delivered to where my husband is going to be working because then he would have two vehicles to drive home, and they would not add my name so I can sign for it. This is after two hours of giving us the run around saying its delayed because we chose to finance the car. Then when we say none of those options will work for us and we want a refund they tell us it will be at least a week or more for the funds to be in our account. Which means we cannot purchase another car to start the commute. When we then requested a way to talk directly to the people processing our refund we were told there is no way to do that and we have to go through the advocate first. The one who told us wrong information about our account and refused to connect us to someone who knew what was going on. When asked if that would be corrected the gentleman on the phone stated that they must have just been on the wrong account and that there would be no corrective action taken to correct this mistake to ensure this doesnt happen to others, but that all their people are highly trained this company seems like a complete and total scam. This is the internets version of the oily used car sales man who up sells you a hunk of complete junk and then tries to dance around the corrective steps to return your money
