Description

I was looking for information about a flight I booked in September with United Airlines. For some reason, the airline never sent me an email with a confirmation number, so I went into my Inbox and searched "united airlines". An email pulled up from United Airlines Reservation Desk and I called the number thinking it was legitimate. The person answering the phone "TED WHITE" was kind of rude and told me my flight dates were off by one day (outbound and inbound). He told me it was going to cost me $241.56 to get the dates back to my original reservation. By then we were suspicious, located the actual confirmation number and found our actual reservation with United was intact, but he got my credit card number, birth date, name, address, and phone number. I told him we knew he was a scammer and he offered to "reverse the charges". I checked the bank and nothing went through but we'll keep checking. I notified the bank. My question is this .... how did this guy know all about the flights I was on. He knew the time, the layovers, the flight numbers, etc. .... The only thing he got us panicked with was the dates were off by one day. We are travelling in a group so the itinerary is crucial. Thank you!
