The scammer sent an email to set up an interview via an app and website called Chatwork. They were offering a job opportunity to work from home as a data entry clerk. The scammer began by asking for full name, mailing address, and email address. They gave a briefing about the job giving details about the job description, benefits, and pay followed by conducting an interview with about 13 questions on Chatwork. The job was offered on the spot and an email was sent with documents consisting of a W4, employment documents, and direct deposit account information to be signed and scanned back to them. The scammer then requested that an account with Central National Bank be created so that $12,000 could be deposited into the account to purchase work equipment.
