Letter stating that I had a Home Warranty and listed my mortgage company and the warranty had expired and to call immediately as they had attempted to contact me. They told me my home would be red flagged and needed to continue the warranty. Questioned if we had this in the past and they said since 2014. I questioned if my deceased spouse had paid for this coverage which they kept saying we had it since 2014. So not knowing as they guy was friendly and stated he was available 6 days a week to answer calls and gave me his number. Hung up and called my mortgage company immediately in less than a few minutes and they told me it must be a scam. Called the number the man gave me and got AI. Called the initial number and requested to speak with someone to get my money credited back to my visa. He berated me, told me I was stupid, my home would be red flagged, whatever that means, and raised his voice continually throughout the phone call. He refused to give me the money back but offered to drop the monthly payment. I told him I did not want whatever they offered that my mortgage company told me they were fraudulently and I had been scammed. This occurred on May 21, and Called visa immediately to stop the charges. They could not as the $295.00 charge was pending but they are investigating. The packet received last week reported Over the course of time until 6/2027 I will pay $4270.00!! Yesterday received a letter from their billing company Mepco in Chicago which states it is an automotive protection plan which was not anything Home Warranty stated. However they did state I may receive information from anyone of three various names- Home Help, Mepco, and Home Assured. I have reported this to the attorney general’s office in my state, to Visa(canceled the card within ten minutes of the initial contact with Home warranty. Since I have looked this company up online and see where they have multiple complaints and prey on the elderly. I want people to be aware of this scam and I would like my money back. They did not list an address or website in the initial letter only the urgency to take care of this matter immediately. Initial contact names which my be false, but what they gave to me was Michael Davies(initial contact and his personal direct number 888-695-1482 ext 1628 and then spoke with Jason in the verification department and third contact was a Zach the financial manger at ext 1699. Zach was the rudest, berating, threatening person of all the contacts. Scary rude. I wish you could stop this scam against the elderly. People that prey on folks of any age should be stopped.
