Initial contact about a remote job opportunity from AppleOne staffing. Telephone number was 838 910 9501. Used the name Cynthia. Gave details about a job completing tasks to document user usage of apps. Then gave me WhatsApp number to another person. This other person told me about the job. Lucille used telephone number 213 344 7646. I had to get a MetaMask wallet for ETH transfers. The scheme was done under the company SimilarWeb. The job is to complete tasks and earn money. However you need to deposit your own money into a work account to cover the task value. The scam is when you get a lucky task which increase your commission but requires a bigger deposit. Unfortunately, I couldn’t cover the required balance and was required to make huge deposits to cover the task balance. Because I was late, they then requested more and more bond deposits promising that I would eventually get my money back. When I finally did cover the balance, they then froze my account claiming FinCEN was investigating a risk of money laundering. They then asked for my driver’s license info and promised they would try to resolve it. A few days later, they said that I needed to make another bond deposit for security reasons. At that point, I knew they were a fraud and had lost almost 23000. They demanded another 7000. Not sure what they intend to do next but I expect threats of some sort. The customer service who continually demanded bond deposits used the telephone number 213 374 6012.
