Description

I'm a retired college professor and have written a book on the battle of Gettysburg. In attempting to publish the book I was researching publishers and ran across a site that purported to be MacMillan Publishers, a world-renowned publisher. I clicked on the link and was involved in the chat feature with someone who asked me to send my manuscript. I did, they were very excited about it, and asked for $1700 to begin the process. They began returning edited chapters to me that were absolutely the most inept and unprofessional excuses for editing I had ever seen. They told me they needed another $2000 for ISBN and Library of Congress registration and I sent them a wire transfer. The poor editing, the ridiculous suggestions for front/back covers, and their clear lack of knowledge of American history and the English language finally told me I had been scammed. They then had their "director of marketing" call me and tell me he was an expert and could guarantee me $10K-$12K/month in sales. That told me they were frauds. Books on Civil War battles don't sell like Tom Clancy or James Patterson novels. I have not heard from them in almost a month and when I call they don't answer their phones. I hope you are able to do something. Thanks.
