I received a voicemail from a woman claiming to be with Harris & Harris. In her message she used the well-known typical phishing scam where they state they have a claim against me and that they are taking me to court, blah blah blah. I have never heard of this company, she only provided scant partial information about me that could be gained from anywhere, probably the black web. I did not respond, and I blocked the number. In researching Harris & Harris online, I found dozens upon dozens of complaints that have been filed against this company for fraudulent debt collections. Debts not belonging to the people they contact, debts that were already paid etc., and utilizing illegal phishing scam tactics to get personal information from people. In researching their location, I found that they are located in a "workshare" office setting where they pay a tiny amount per square foot on a month-to-month lease deal (I'm familiar with these workshare spaces as I work in commercial property management). I think this a boiler room set up with the worst kind of people using illegal and threatening tactics to extort money. I have filed a complaint with the Illinois and Florida Attorney General's offices and the Federal Trade Commission. This company may be a legit company on paper, but they are practicing deceptive and illegal practices.
