Description

I got a call on Thursday 1/23/2025 at 12:03 pm from (347) 609-0145 from someone called Mr. Kay from Vigilante Solutions saying that he was contacting me regarding a front desk job that paid $25/hr. He described the role by saying I would be working in the lobby of the building greeting guests, checking IDs and checking them in. Also mentioned something about working with hotels, residential, and commercial buildings. He described this being a prestigious company that works with other prestigois companies, therefore there are extensive trainings that needed to be done. He said the company doesn’t pay for these trainings however, so I would need to come to my interview prepared with $150 in either cash or as a money order in case I got hired after the job interview. I also was asked to bring my ID and resume and sent me a text to confirm my interview time (which was the next day at 12:45pm). At one point I did ask which location they were looking to hire at and he had no straight answer, just saying they have multiple locations in the city and Brooklyn. The job interview was located 39 West 29th Street, 6th Floor, New York, NY. After discussing The opportunity with friends and family I was informed that this was a possible scam because there was no information on the business at the Better Business Bureau, nor I was their information on their website and there was no identifiable information from the employer. I was also Informed that companies typically pay for certifications for you so $150 was ridiculous. After thinking back on my phone interview, there were many strange comments made regarding why I had free time the high school in which I went to and how excited the employer was to “put a face behind the name.” I decided not to attend the interview and sent a lengthy message to the employer about my discomfort. I never received a call back or a response to my message.
