Description

Applied on linkedin 3/19 with NexGen Growth Consulting for a Customer Service Specialist role (link no longer exists on their site) I received an email on 3/20 from Co-Founder Mark, stating that the role I had applied for was filled, but a higher level position had opened up and they wanted to discuss it further with me by following a link on https://calendly.com/d/cnrs-2zn-shr to select a time slot. After scheduled and attending the 1 hour interview via zoom, there were 178 others and we could not un-mute ourselves. See the below for a summary based on notes taken during this presentation. Job position: White Glove, World Class Consultant Doing what: booking and managing travel plans for elite(rich) clients with 30k to burn on vacays,. or Fortune 500 companies looking to schedule retreats. Work flow: you are given a client that reached out to plan a vacation, you obtain the details (destination, budget, reason for travel, etc) You then book the travel, hotel and entertainment arrangments for their stay and any furture travel plans will be made through you. Was told that we would get one client a day- but was given 0 timeframe on how long it may take to complete said booking. Then the pay structure was discussed and in all my 20 years of employment, NEVER have I be presented with a pay structure that is a doupleganger to a sale's commission role, but being told it WAS IN NO WAY A SALES ROLE. Basically, to start you are given the low budgets clients ( they said they low end never below 20k) and you would make 10% of the amount paid for booking once completed, no hourly rate, no talk of PTO, benefits, etc... then claimed that a the avg annual salary for a 1-year front line consultant was around 148k, with a straight face. Mark touted that they charge the clients booking trips $0 fee for their service and stated they make their money with the travel company vendors who pay the company access to their elite client list. gave no further explaination on that asepect, only presented as a explainiation as to why you are getting a comissioned percentage rate and not an hourly paid rate. Towards the later of this 1 hour long meeting I can never get back or be compensated for (not counthing the time taken to make this statement) it was stated that you have to have a license to be a travel agent, which normally takes 3-4 months and up towards $3k to obtain, but since he a super kewl guy, he can get you the inside track license on his reputation( insert nefarious eye wink) Just simply pay 97$ each month for four months and once you pass the their evaluation, you get the discount of paying into a campany insurance pool of the low low price of 500$ a year. I left the meeting as Mark was explaining the payment options via the link he would provide. Other Red Flags I noticed: Stated on zoom he is a co-founder, when; per his own words, his uncle founded the company 32 years agp and this Mark could not have been older than my beautiful and mature 41 yr old self, so he founded nothing. Also the bandwidth was low, while my compauter's internet connection stated strong... all my apps were closed on my desktop (normally the issue with lowband zoom connections) so unsure why it was having techy issues. Overall, its a total scam. When he went over the pay-> it was vague and left me with way more questions than answers and based on my own 20 years of employment history; what company doesnt charge their clients a service fee AND pays their front-line consultants 148k a year? (his estimate for the 1st year of employment)
