I visited a website called USAPassportandVisa.org believing it was an official government website for passport renewal services. The website design, colors, and imagery closely mimicked official government sites, creating a false impression of government affiliation. While there is a small disclaimer stating they are "not associated with any government agency," this is intentionally minimized while the overall presentation is designed to mislead visitors into thinking this is an official service. I paid $67.88 for what I believed was passport renewal processing but later discovered I had only paid for them to fill out a form that is freely available on the official government website. The company deceptively presents itself as providing official passport services through its design, wording, and user experience. The site collected extensive personal information including full name, address, date of birth, parental information, and Social Security Number under false pretenses. When attempting to contact the company for a refund via their listed phone number, no representatives were available despite claimed business hours. This appears to be a systematic practice of deception as evidenced by multiple similar complaints on the BBB website. I've initiated a dispute with my credit card company over the charge and am concerned about potential identity theft due to the sensitive personal information I provided under deceptive circumstances.
