Zero or negative stars if possible. Background check started on 08/08/2024, today is now 08/23/2024, and all I have gotten from them is inconsistent comments from different rude agents, delay after delay, and absolutely no accountability. I'm flabbergasted that a company as large as the one I applied to is using this garbage that is called HireRight. Their support and tech is atrocious. It's not like I had a choice, though, but if I did, I would dang well stay away from HireRight. They're messing with people's lives, delaying my work start date, and even possibly committing fraud insofar as mishandling sensitive data. Not cool. Searching for a job is already challenging enough, and HireRight takes it to a whole new level of frustration. Jerks.Review from Dave P

Terrible company, terrible process, terrible follow through! I worked at a business for nearly 2 decades, and provided HireRight with the phone number and HR contact to prove my employment on a background check. Do you think they would follow through? Not really sure who they contacted, but HireRight claims to only verify 1 single day of employment..., and not 20 years. WTF? So, now I had to send off 2 decades worth of W2 statements as proof (and God only knows where that document ended up). It seems you have to hold their hand when doing employment verifications, or some paid monkey had no idea what they were doing, and just decided to play with someone's future by guessing. Employment verification: Step 1 - contact past employer. Step 2 - if nobody answers the phone, just take a wild guess, and hope the boss won't notice. In the end, since I only had 17 years' worth of W2's and not all 20, they claimed "insufficient documentation". Really guys? DO BETTER! DO YOUR JOB!Review from Thu D

This company takes your data and wont delete it, even when asked. They made me submit documents without telling me I could remove personal information. Now, they hold sensitive details like my social security number and tax recordseverything needed for identity theft. The entire process invaded my privacy. It's shocking that companies allow this to happen. I hope others stop using their services. Even after my background check was done, they refused to remove my data, violating privacy laws. It feels like were living in a dystopian reality.

Thank you for your feedback. During the process of requesting the uploading of a file, disclosure is provided during the application process in **************** concerning supporting documentation that pertains to employment which confirms start and end dates. A message appears that asks the applicant to redact any information regarding salary, wages, earnings, benefits, or pay history from all documents that are submitted for employment verification prior to uploading. Additional notation is made that PDF, JPG and PNG files are supported, and the maximum file size is 20MB.An email sent to you requests that you please upload redacted documents so that your uploaded unredacted documents can be deleted. Once the redacted documents are uploaded, please respond to the email address listed in our email so that the unredacted versions can be deleted. This is company harvests your data and refuses to delete it. I was prompted that I had to upload documents, but was not warned that I was allowed to redact information off of them until AFTER I had submitted them. Now they are in possession of the details of more or less my entire adult life. including a significant amount of sensitive financial data such as social security number and tax filings, basically everything someone would need to steal my identity. Not to mention the entire process was a complete invasion of my privacy. Allowing companies to do this is bending to the will of Big Brother. What kind of world do we live in where we have to be subjected to this kind of treatment. I wish companies would realize how horrible this company is and makes their incoming employees feel and would cease using them. Now that I have finished the check and been hired, I requested them to delete this data and the refused even after being escalated several times. The refused to comply with the ***** and the right of ** residents to "be forgotten". We are living in the dystopia now.HireRight Response

First off your not even bbb accredited. Companies only usee this company to cut costs!!! Employees are extremely lazy and cannot even do a simple task. Your replies to all reviews are a complete lie. Wish you would go out of business. Most people who work here are out of country!!! Worst experience ever with a background check company I've had to get a government background check before and never had any issues until now. !!!if I could give you no stars I would. They take forever with background checks! Theyre very invasive! They constantly request the same information over and over again the review cant properly verify military documents. They make you wait for extended periods of time to where you lose money. It makes you lose interest in the job you were hired for. The customer service *** sound sketchy. JUST SHUT THEM DOWN NO GOOD AND PLAYS WITH PEOPLES livelihoodHireRight Response

Company is a complete joke. They have been waiting for records from my county for 2 weeks now. I finally called them to make a complaint and they were rude and unhelpful. Blamed the county for having database issues and computers being down.Called the county clerks office and they haven't received a request for my records or have had any issues with systems in the last 2 weeks. Company is not US based, and very unprofessional. Not surprised to see the other reviews here.HireRight Response

Never had I ever experienced a background like this. Where I had to do all the leg work myself. Never contacted the college for transcripts. Requested I send them a copy of my HS diploma because they weren't able to access proof. I sent it and then they asked for contact information for my HS (so I Googled it) I mean seriously. Went back and forth for 4 days on employment verification continued stating that I did not send requested documents; however I sent them everything I had to find out they needed to verify the end of self employment. Well I started a new job so... It has been awful and it's not over, start date delayed a week over this.HireRight Response

What a complete joke. They can verify nothing. Left me a Discrepancy report on the stuff they are to lazy to check for themselves. Kept sending me requests for information. Like am I supposed to do your job for you. Even left a discrepancy on my current employer that Ive been employed with for 8 years. Any company that uses them should just give the applicant the money.
