My phone was stolen on March 18, 2024 and sold to an EcoATM Kiosk in *********, ** a few hours later. Despite the company claiming they do NOT purchase stolen devices, the criminal had no problem selling my locked, stolen phone to EcoATM. I contacted them the same day using their displayed customer service number since the FindMy app showed my iphone located INSIDE their "ATM" machine. I pinged the phone and could hear it inside the machine. Their customer service advised me that they could not send someone to open the machine, but that the phones are picked up once a week and transported to their warehouse in **********, **. They assured me that once the phone reached their warehouse, their "experts" have "special tools" to determine the device IMEI even if it is locked. On April 10, 2024 I got an alert that my phone was powered on again in **********, ** and I called EcoATM immediately. They claimed the device was flagged in their system and they'd let me know when they located it, but assured me it was NOT at their warehouse in ********. I've since filed a police report, and obtained camera footage from ******* showing the thief selling my stolen phone to their ATM. They continue to claim the device was never sold to them and is not at their warehouse, despite the video and GPS tracking evidence to the contrary. They offer about 25 cents on the dollar for unlocked phones, and about 10 cents on the dollar for stolen phones, as the thief just has to claim the device is broken to sell a stolen phone. Just a truly horrible business model and I cannot believe they are BBB accredited.
