Plumbing repairs done at our home on December 17, 2022 by plumber and helper working for Silverado Rooter and Plumbing. Following discovery of black mold in kitchen, filing of insurance claim with California Casualty, who chose Belfor Remediation to do restoration and repairs. Belfor paid for approved installation of temporary sink, sent a Silverado plumber to do the work, he discovered source of leak in main drain below floor level. CalCas refused to pay for additional plumbing work, estimate from Silverado to Belfor was for $2,492.82. We were required to pay half of that in order for them to do the job. Paid on Dec. 15, 2022. Plumber and helper were on site for 4 hours on 12/17/22. Supplies were a short length of black plastic drainpipe, small amount of cement, misc. fittings. We were asked to pay remaining half of charges before they left, but seemed exorbitant for time worked, so I asked them to send a bill. Since then I have called 7 or 8 times, asking for itemized invoice, including GPS data they supposedly had for workers travel, hours worked, did not receive. Told them the total price seemed out of line, still nothing, except addition of late fees. Silverado appears to be a subcontractor of Belfor, we were not given a choice of plumber or restoration co. We feel the charges should be adjusted downward to reflect current business practices in Tucson, plumber pay rate per hour, accuracy in billing, etc. On the invoices, Silverado reserves the right to charge more than the estimate, but not to reduce the cost based on reality. Quality of work was good, but not worth $400. per hour for the plumber and $135 per hour for helper.
