    They installed an HVAC in the home 7 years ago. We moved in 3 weeks ago. On Sunday, 2/12, the system threw codes and stopped working. We got it to turn on again, but called for a tech on 2/13, and was told that someone could come on 2/14 between 12 and 4:30. I called around 2pm on 2/14 for a status update and was told that someone came on 2/13 (but didn't). They scheduled a tech, who arrived that afternoon and who had no idea what was wrong with the unit. He tapped on it, BLEW ON IT, and then spent 45 minutes on the phone. He self described himself as "not the best tech". He said hopefully it won't do it again and charged $200+ for coming. He then said that if we signed up for the advantage club, someone would come back for no dispatch if it's not fixed. So we signed up because the self-described "not the best tech" blew on the system and that is not a fix. 2 days later, it stopped working, again, with the same codes. This time on 2/17 a new tech came out, got the system working, and said that he needed "permission" to order parts and that someone would get back to us. The furnace stopped working overnight after he left. I called 2/18 and dispatch said that someone could come out "at some point" today, but then relayed notes of a conversation that someone at the company said that they had with me about 5-7 days and hundreds of dollars of parts. That conversation NEVER HAPPENED. I was stunned to learn at 5am that we would be without a working furnace for 5-7+ days just waiting for parts (for a furnace that the company installed and services?!?!) , much less scheduling the repair. The dispatcher noted that they would write in the file that I wanted to speak to a manager. They couldn't tell me that the manager would call me (just like they couldn't tell me if/when a tech will arrive on 2/18). We have a 2 year old. This is winter in NY. There is no sense of urgency to fix this. It is disgusting.

    My moms hot water heater stopped working as her basement flooded with 2"of water. She called John Betlem. They sent out a service man. He was in her basement for 5 minutes. Her security cam showed he never even touched the hot water heater. He just stood there and talked on his phone. He came up and told her. It would have to be replaced at $3600 and could not be repaired. Mind you this was a newer unit. They had installed it one year earlier. I can buy the same unit at any store for under $700.They charged her $182 for the service call. When I seen he never even looked at the unit. I went on youtube found out it was the vapor sensor. I purchased one for $21 and took 5 minutes to replace it. The unit has worked fine ever since. I called them and got the run around. Then I got John Betlem on the phone. I demanded he refund her service call and he refused. Just like their commercials say. " They treat you like family". I guess they cheat their own families also.
