    Advertising Review:
On November 9, 2021, Better Business Bureau contacted Glacier Bay Law concerning its advertising claims their website, http://www.glacierbaylaw.com/.

Specifically, Glacier Bay Law claims to be a law firm, and claims, “It is not a lawyer referral service or prepaid legal services plan. Each of the lawyers on this site are either Managers, Members, Partners, Limited Partners or staff attorneys.”  BBB found consumers are not being advised by attorneys. Consumers claim their accounts are handled by account managers or specialists and they are being referred to a monthly prepaid service plan to resolve their debts without advice from a lawyer.

Advertisements which are untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or insincere offers to sell, shall not be used. An advertisement as a whole may be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately considered may be literally true. Misrepresentation may result not only from direct statements but by omitting or obscuring a material fact.

Glacier Bay Law responded by claiming consumers are being advised by attorneys to discuss a plan based upon their needs, but would not provide BBB substantiation for these claims.

Back in July 2023, I joined the debt settlement program with Glacier Bay Law. I met with a notary who was sent to my home to sign paperwork. Notary did not have knowledge on the program, but I was expected to sign all documents. I was told Id have a call with their attorney which never happened. An account is opened on your behalf which a specified amount is withdrawn from your checking account to pay any settlements and company fees. I did receive a call from a representative, *****************************, who is primarily who has been in contact with me regarding settlements. Every time there is a settlement with a creditor, I receive a call regarding settlement amounts. Call is recorded. First few accounts settled seemed fine until I got a call about the third account settlement. The amount of settlement was discussed and they ask if you want to proceed which I had said yes. Forward to now March 2024. I login to the account and notice that $100 has gone to the creditor over the last two months and more than $1200 to Glacier Bay Law for fees which includes retainer fees for an attorney Ive never spoken to. 94% of the payments made have gone toward fees. Upon asking for specific numbers, I was told $3450.75 is the fee charged for that specific settlement and that the settlement account in question will not be paid off until December 2026. That information was never discussed with me during the recorded settlement call. Had it been I would have declined that settlement offer. I feel as if specific information was deceitfully held from me and I was not given all information necessary to make an educated decision. They also do not inform you that you are responsible to pay taxes on all settlements amounts which does not take into account the settlement fees. I was told when signing up I can discontinue the program at any time. While attempting to do so, I was told I still owe $2250 of the settlement fee. Strategic Financial Solutions who Glacier Bay Law is contracted through is currently being sued by seven state attorney generals. As a consumer, I feel swindled, taken advantage of, and scammed.
